Sun Shiny Day

I had a great day today! It was so nice to be with my sisters and just talk and laugh and have a nice lunch and shop a little between our gab sessions. We exchanged our Christmas gifts and I got such nice things from them.... I'm so Blessed to have the sisters I have!!!!  When I got home I was surprised ~ first to see so much of the snow had melted and then when I came in I saw my husband had scrubbed the carpeting. He was just waiting for me to leave I bet. It is really nice and clean now too. Now I have to leave again because there are 2 more rooms that need scrubbing. :)  I live a charmed life don't I? Some days are really really good. I hope my luck holds out another day because I have to go to the doctors tomorrow and get checked. cross your fingers for me, I ate some things today I should not have and hope it doesn't show up in the blood test. Maybe if I drink a lot of water tonight I can flush it out? Do you think it works that way? Well I will find out tomorrow.

Just laying low

I haven't been doing much, Church on Sunday and Shopping today. I'm just picking up things to get ready for summer planting and gardening. A few more packets of seeds and some small containers to keep the 3 cabinets Leo finished for the garage straightened. The weather has been ok but I was chilly all day today. I guess with the snow melting and the dampness it is just chillin me through and through. I'm trying to keep warm so I don't get sick again.I made an appointment to get my check up at the doctors for Wednesday and tomorrow Iam meeting with 4 of my sisters. For one reason after another we haven't met for awhile and we usually meet every month at least. I'm looking forward to that.... we are finally going to be able to exchange our Christmas presents.... I hope we all can make it. This is the first time  that we haven't been able to get together. Its even supposed to be a nice sunshiny day tomorrow! With a little luck our snow will be gone in the week ahead and then the chills will probably leave me. We turn up the heat but its the dampness outside that is doing it. God needs to turn up the heat I think. ;)

Cleaning house

Its a good day for cleaning the house and getting together another bag of things for St Vincent DePaul. I have so much stuff it only takes a few minutes for that. I told Leo if we took a bag there every week we might be finished by the end of the year. It would be so nice to only have things around here that we use... I don't know why I have to save everything but I am learning. I guess when we were younger and had our big family we had to save everything but now there is no reason why someone else can't use what we are no longer using. I also cleaned the refrigerator out ~ isn't that a good feeling to always have that clean. We save too much stuff in there too. Anyway I'm finished for today and now I can read journals etc for awhile. Always a good part of my day. I have been sort of forgetting to write my own as I can't wait to see what everyone is doing. I hope having a nice day like Iam.  Leo went to a fishing show today ~ he couldn't wait to get there. He will be gone quite awhile Im sure as he has to see everything and know just how it all works too. So I don't go with because it just takes way too long. He left at 9 and it didn't open until 10. He was excited and has been waiting for this a long time. I hope he finds something new and exciting. Something like how Iam at a garden center or show. Our Son Rick came over and showed me a pair of boots he got at Wal Mart today. He got a good buy and wanted to share it with me. He really really needed new boots and he got a nice pair too.I guess after that he was going to go to the fishing show and see if he could catch up with his father. I hope they have fun together.
 So thats my life today in a nutshell.... take care.

A March Storm

This weather is probably causing a lot of home owners problems today. There is a big branch of our Pine tree in the back ( can hardly see it in one of the pictures) that is falling to the ground. It is probably broken and we will probably have to saw it off. Its always the wrong branch that happens to also, right? LOL We have a window well that keeps filling with water coming from the neighbors yard... each house is higher than the next and we don't have a drain on this side of the house. Leo just went to Fleet Farm to get a fitting for a pipe he is going to use to drain the water out of the well with a pump. He was using a garden hose but the water is coming too fast so he will get a wider pipe to see how that works. The water is coming into the basement now ....oh boy. Good thing our basement isn't finished  with a family room or something. 
Our son Tom came over this morning right from work and said most of the roads are pretty good... ours is the worse he said but there is a lot of slush to plow through and once it went right over his windshield. He came with his uniform on and his badge.... funny but its the first time I have seen him in this uniform and he must have been a fireman for Green Bay for about 20 years already...before that he was in the Navy and before that the Army..... he is a good son.... one of 5 we have.

I finished shoveling the patio and then did the driveway too as it is supposed to freeze tonight and I don't like a slippery driveway. Leo spent a good part of the day with the pumping out of the window well.  Our sump pump is running downthe basement every minute or so yet. maybe it would be good if it did freeze

Martha Stewart

I was watching Martha's tv show this morning and it got me hoping she is found innocent of her charges. I like the information and perfection she offers us all. There was a segment today about the beautiful Magnolias in New York and the transplanting of perennials in the spring and she was also planting some lilies that can still be planted this spring and will still bloom this summer. she said if there is any growth on the bulbs you should make sure you don't break that off as that is where the blossom is going to form and if you break it you won't get flowers this year. She also made a delicious cobb salad. I will be hoping and praying that she is innocent as I am very selfish and want her doing her good things awhile longer. ( anyway I don't think she did anything that the rest of us wouldn't have done)   Good Luck to Martha. ;)
    So after the show I went to K Mart and got a package of Nigella seeds she was talking about today too. I sure hope they grow for me. They are also called Love-in-a-Mist... Her seed packets are so informative too.
Leo just came home from fishing and he got one Walleye.... I don't remember if I told you all the old retired fishermen go to the same spot and have a contest every year. Leo is in 3rd place now and another guy got 2 and Al got 6 so you know if it doesn't storm tomorrow where Leo will be. He goes fishing for walleye and I go fishing for gardening things. I got a wreath for the door today too and  a few other things. I'm starting to feel much better

I guess I didn't get my wish. I hope her sentence is short . Maybe she can keep her business going if its a short sentence.  I hope its not too terrible for her and some good comes of it all.

Spring is around the corner

Now I do know that we will most likely get another snow storm or two yet this year but Spring will come, now I am sure as the fish are starting to bite and the birds are coming back and under that snow  my flowers were starting to do their thing already. Hip Hip Hooray!
I do still have my head cold though and am coughing up a storm so its a good thing the ground isn't ready for me to play in yet. Probably another 2 to 4 weeks and I can start cleaning up ( I hope)

Its March again

Darn its March and I guess its the changing of the seasons again. I forgot I always get a bad cold or something when the seasons change. Well in Spring and Winter anyway. We are getting an old fashioned thunderstorm tonight. Its seems early for that but I guess its ok if the snow disappears. At least half of it has melted anyway. The thunder is supposed to take the frost out of the ground. Would that ever be nice if that happens early this year. It was 47 today and 50 yesterday and I guess its supposed to stay above freezing tonight. Now I know we will be getting freezing again but I hope the snow melts and it keeps getting warmer. All the ice shantys are supposed to come off the ice now as it is starting to break up. I hope all the guys pay attention to that.
