Snow day

Hi,
   I hope you are having a good day today! Iam even if it is snowing AGAIN and I had to change my plans. I wanted to go to Target and see what they had for containers to put the sweaters in but it is snowing and the weather man said it was slippery this morning so I decided to clean out the pots and pans cupboard....... I have been putting it off but was in the mood today. I found 2 bags of stuff in there to give away and some things to move into a different spot and now I can see all the pots and pans.... I still have many but they look nice now.... I should take a picture ~ but hope I can keep it like that now. I put 2 very large pots downstairs on the shelf because I don't make such big containers of soup etc anymore and they are too nice to give away yet.... never know when you may need a huge pot do you, LOL   I could make a big pot of soup and have all my kids over and their families and it would be just the right size.... Anyway I got another cupboard cleaned... its a double so lots of things fit in there.
   Now what to do....should get Leo to play a game of some kind with me but he would rather watch tv.... That might be a good thing to do but I get too antsy during the day just sitting watching tv and not doing anything.... wonder how he can do that. I bet fishing got him to know how to relax. Maybe I should learn to fish so I can sit still. When I sit and watch tv it seems I always fall asleep during the comercials... and then wake up and don't know what is happening in the movie.... What a life I lead, huh? I know I shouldn't complain and really Im not. It's just that its that time of year when Spring should be here and I can get to work out in my yard.... Should be here in a little over a week they say and I HOPE.

Freezing sunny day

Most of the snow is melted from the streets and driveways even if it was very cold... The sun at this time of the year is very warm and soon it won't give the cold weather a chance.... haha 
Today I did a little house work aka the fly lady and my bathrooms are sparkling and so it the kitchen and bedroom etc... Leo has to vacuum but he will take his time getting to it... Yesterday he was looking for shirts to recycle because of getting new ones and only found 2 he didn't want so I told him he must give away 2 other things for the remaining shirts and he found some old hats ( 40 to be exact) to give away. They were lined up on his closet shelf. Everytime a truck driver came in to report he would give Leo a hat... he still has about 15 left that he will keep for fishing. He or the kids are always buying hats... you know baseball and golf and racing etc... someone will be happy to get some new hats from St vincent de pauls I bet too. One year he gave them to someone to give to cancer patients... can't find that charity anymore so we will give them to someone else this time. He is going to copy me and put a basket on the shelf for his sweaters so he has more room in his dresser.... I just am so happy we found that fly lady!!!!! :)
We must hurry though and get it finished because Spring is around the corner and gardening and fishing will start soon and then I bet we won't be finding so much in the house to recycle.... We can always work on the garage then and the yard.... wonder if that counts?
So now I think I will run to the recycle bin with the hats& the 3 bags I have in my trunk and maybe do a little grocery shopping....

ps.... Leo just started vacuuming. :) He is waiting to go to his doctors appointment so he has time on his hands.... nice, huh?

SNOW

SNOW SNOW SNOW When will it end. It got cold again today and the snow is covering the ground now where we had it all cleared from the warm weather yesterday.... boo hoo........ So I do my laundry and clean house again..... getting sick of it and want to go out and play. :)
I don't want to sit and knit or crochet or read anymore. I think I got enough rest from my last summers gardening and am ready to get my fingernails dirty again....:) But I can't change the weather. There must be a reason for it so I will try and get some patience and wait for warmer days. We do have one more week til the Ides of March so it isn't really late it is just my impatience I guess.
   I will "Smile" Dad and think of something happy. I'm lucky I have a nice warm house and some groceries in the house.
I have 3 bags of "stuff" to bring to recycle but don't want to drive in the snow because the roads may be icy and I don't have to go today so I won't. Tomorrow I will need something to do too. I'm watching a gardening show on QVC right now and I will pretend its nice and green like that outside.... It will be soon.

A Melting kind of Day!

It got warm today.... 50 something and the snow is really melting. It was actually too warm to be wearing my winter jacket this afternoon. A first for us this year and it sure felt good.

We went to Kohls shopping after church today and Leo found the best buy.... He was so happy after he couldn't stop talking about it... He got 6 new long sleeve shirts for $3 each. One is a denium and the others are a cotten and cotton blend type and all good name brands he would have had to pay at least $25 a piece for if not on sale and he got them all for $18. When we go shopping he always looks and looks and looks and never buys... imagine my surprise when I saw him heading to the check out with 6 shirts in his hand.... and he even said he was going to look for 6 shirts to get rid of too.... that fly lady is wearing off on him.. I got a nice leather purse on sale and a square table cloth for spring... I like having a little table cloth on my table every day... So we both got some things today.
Rick and Carley came over today and they were playing with a ball outside in the street ~ no jackets and they were warm..... Amazing.
Now we may be getting more snow tonight or tomorrow but we got a taste of spring at least so it won't be so bad anymore.

ps... just looked at my husbands shirts so my son could see them and they were maked from $40 to 34 so it was a better buy then I thought... and they are really nice and he will wear them because they are the kind he likes.....Would have been $225 if not on sale and he got them for $18..... you had better head for Kohls before Tuesday the lady said but I bet the sale will last as long as the clothes last....

Where do the days go?

I just noticed I haven't written anything in here since Wednesday~ where do the days go? Its that darn fly lady keeping me so busy, LOL Yesterday we had snow... enough to keep me home with out anything to do. So I cleaned out a drawer and a shelf in a closet and got some Easter things out to put around the house... I just noticed I don't have any fingernails left from all the work the fly lady is making me do...... So I filed them down to nowhere and will wait for them to grow again.... at least my house is getting clean.... you would think I had the messiest of messy houses but thats not true. Never had anything much laying around and always did the dishes and made my bed and laundry was always folded and put away.... trouble is it was getting harder and harder to put away because I just had too many clothes and the same with the other stuff... Now its getting pretty easy. I still have a couple of things to clean that Im putting off.... I have a couple of spaces with stuff on each side of the fire place... they have doors on them so you can't see whats in there unless you open the door. I cleaned one last fall but the one that has all the picture albums etc is bad.... I think I have to keep all the pictures but I have a lot of them in frames. I will never hang them up again and someone on one of those declutter shows said to take the pictures out of the frames and put them in an album or box... that is what I plan to do... it will make a lot of room and then I save some special papers and magazines in there too... don't know what Im saving them for so they will go too but I just can't get started in there.... should take much longer than her alloted 15 minutes I guess. I started in the basement again too the other day when I didn't know where else to go..... One of these days Im going to get rid of some of my husbands things if he doesn't watch out. haha
It's a sunny day today and should warm up to almost 40. I would be so happy if it does and some of the snow melts... I want it to be gone by Easter but I have my doubts. Its supposed to be warm again tomorrow but then get cold and snow again.... and it looks like the whole week will be cold. I was looking at the map yesterday  on tv and we seem to be the coldest place in the country... that doesn't happen much so we will ride it out and Spring is around the corner....... I HOPE.

Charlie

Charlie stayed around me all morning while we were waiting to go to the vet for his check up and shot... I told him we were going and he stayed still while I cut his nails and brushed him... He is such a honey... Vet thought so too but he said he was too fat. He put on his papers he weighs 18#s but it really said 17 & 3/4 :>)  Don't you wish you could relax like a cat does.... I wish I could. I should take lessons from Charlie I think. Trouble is he really does sleep too much usually. Oh the vet told me to see if he would like to play with a lazer beam for 15 min a day too for some exercise.... Otherwise he will have to get some new food for chubby cats.

Another cold sunny day

Its not even 9 o'clock here and already I have my work finished and a load to take to St Vincent DePauls bin... Its so amazing that Im still finding stuff I no longer need, use or like. Gotta say like because I have a lot of "things" around that please me even if I have to dust them. The trouble with this fly lady way is that when I go shopping now I don't buy nearly as much because then I have to give something away... Yesterday I got 2 new hot pads and it was easy to throw away 2 of those and I got a nice square lined basket for the top shelf in my closet to put my sweaters... don't figure I have to give a basket away now though as its for making my closet neater after all. I had put sweaters on the shelf but then it was hard to pull one down with out messing up the whole stack so I got the basket and it will be easy to pull down and put back. Im so darn short ~ thats my problem with taking the sweaters down.... I needed a step stool or ladder and this way I don't and it looks really nice and now I have room to put my purses up there too... :) Today was the day to clean out the refrigerator but its still nice and neat from last week and nothing in there we aren't still using. I'm supposed to clean the windows in my front door today. haha.... big job, huh? I cleaned out my sewing basket this morning so now I can use it again... actually I put some yarn in it because I don't really need it for sewing.
   Yesterday Gary came home with two Norah Jones Dvd's so I will be able to finish watching those today. I wish I could find one with Katie Melua on too as she is so good.... think as good as Norah. Well gotta go.... just saw a nice short sleeve blouse on QVC I think I will buy if there are any left in my size.... Have a fun day, Sandra
