KITTY

Remember last summer when I showed you the pictures of the zoo? This is the Lion picture I used in my calendar I made for myself. Kitty is the lions name and he died in his sleep the night befor last. Everyone is going to miss this wonderful cat. I guess lions in captivity usually live to around 15, Kitty was 18.... he was getting help in his last days with his kidney failure and they found out he also had cancer.... poor lion. Now they already know we are going to get 2 more young ones to take his place.... can't really take his place so its a good thing that they will be young ones. They were born in a zoo in Madison, Wisconsin ~ funny how things work out isn't it? We also have a baby giraffe somewhere that is growing and waiting for us to make a home for.... I love giraffes and hope they make a good home for it. We have a nice zoo so it will be I'm sure.... Sad though isn't it that animals have to live in a zoo. It's the only way many of us get to see them though and I suppose it has some good points too, just not sure what they are in the animals eyes.
It's a rainy day today so I don't have to feel guilty not planting the rest of my lily bulbs... hope the ground doesn't get so wet now that its hard to work with... Now I have to figure out something else to do... do you think its ok if I just sit around and maybe read my new book? mmmmm I wonder. Maybe Leo will come up with something ~ he won't be going fishing.  We shall see. Hope you are having a good day, Sandra

To Appleton today

I hate it when I don't have pictures to add but today is just one of those boring journal days I guess. I didn't take any new pictures lately. today we have to go to Appleton to get Leo's stitches out... will be glad when that is over.
My neighbors house is going up for sale after them living here for about 18 years... Its going to be hard to see them go. Mostly all the neighbors are much younger than we are, they were older but we had a lot in common. I wonder who we will get now.... hope and pray its someone nice. It gets lonesome around here with out anyone to talk too. Seems everyone is working all day and when they get home they are too busy. Its a cute little house so maybe we will get lucky and get anothe retired couple to share our life with.... Anyone looking for a nice house???? They are only moving a mile away but want to live in a twindom because they don't want to take up all their time doing the work around the house anymore... we say they should stay where they are and hire the work out as they can afford it... but thy have to do what they have to do I guess... makes me sad though.
So you see Im not in a very happy mood today..... gotta take my mind off that though and think possitive don't I?

We just got back from Appleton and Leo's stitches are out and all is well with the world, LOL
It was an interesting eye opener at the eye doctor today though. It was a small waiting room and as soon as I started talking about an article in the magazine I was reading everyone started talking.... it was an interesting afternoon. first of all the nice lady next too me said after she told me she didn't like chocolate even if it is good for your heart she said it wasn't good for her hips, lol then she told me she had eye surgery because her eye lids were half covering her eyes and it was getting harder to see..... guess what happened... he did the surgery better on one eye than the other.... One eye is opened just right and the other is still half closed.... she is not happy. then another lady said she had eye surgery too for her tear ducts that were blocked and now not only can she not stop crying but one eye looks open farther than the other and then we looked at Leo ( all same doctor) and we thought one of his eyes is bigger too.... Leo started laughing and he was still laughing about it at Krolls were we went to eat... We had been thinking he wouldn't have his eye lashes any more but they are still there and then he looked at me and said one of my eyes was bigger than the other too.... maybe its just walking into that guys office that does it..... ya think????? by the way it was Doctor Dale so in case you want one eye bigger than the other he is the doctor to see. LOL
We are happy its all over though and it all went well.... very well.  Just thought you might like to know.  Sandra

Goldie

I just finished reading Goldie's wonderful book. I could hardly put it down until I finished reading it. Now I want to go and rent all of her movies and maybe buy a few too. I sure hope she makes the movie she is working on now.... You should read the book too... :) I give it a 10.

I went shopping with Leo today and got a couple more of the kitchen towels I got Sunday... 2 more for me and 2 to give to Shari..... she has been so good to me and she did say she loved them too... How could I not give her some too. :) I also got a shower present for a shower for my nephews girlfriend in a week and a half.... they didn't have much on their list at Kohls so if my sisters havent gotten anything yet I advise you to go to Target or fleet farm. she had washcloths on the list but no towels???? didn't want to just give her wash cloths and they were $8 each besides.... I got 2 nice cookie sheets.. figured she would be making lots of cookies, LOL
 Leo cut the grass today... says his eye is just fine and cutting the grass can't hurt it... It didn't either that I can tell. He's probably right. Yesterday I planted more bulbs and morning glory seeds and still have many to plant but not in the mood today after shopping so I finished reading Goldie's book.

just one of those days

sorry I forgot to come in and tell you that everything went well at the hospital and we made it home just fine, lol  He has a big black eye and is a little sore but he is not in any pain now and is raring to go... I hope it rains tomorrow so he doesn't do anything. he doesn't think the rules were made for him and plans on either catching that big , I mean huge fish or cutting the grass....He won't listen to me and I sure hope he is right and it doesn't open up... don't want to make that trip to Appleton until Thursday when he gets the stitches out.
  Mothers day was nice! After mass Leo and I went out for brunch and then a "little " shopping and then home.... Rick and Carley were already here and then Dan came and then Shari and she wanted to go and get some more flowers with me .... so we did and then Tom and Cindy came over and Mike  called from florida.... It was a very warm nice day. Actually Im not used to so much going on anymore though and will be more relaxed tomorrow no matter what I do.... must be my age or maybe the hot day we had... wasn't expecting it to get in the 80's today. too warm all of a sudden like this.
So now I will go back and read my book a little and go to bed early I think... Goodnight, Sandra

Rainy day and Hospital

Today we have to go to the hospital and Leo will get his plastic surgery done on his eyelid. Yesterday he had all the cancer cut out and it went well. He was hardly in any pain. Of coarse I had to drive way accross town in the middle of the noon day traffic but it was ok. Now today I will have to drive home at supper time and through town again in too much traffic. I usually do my things in a calmer time of day but I will be ok. After all if Leo can go though what he has to the least I can do is drive him home.... I get panicky driving in no traffic, lol Maybe I should practice my meditation this morning. Think how proud of myself I will be when I make it home. Leo was proud of me yesterday too because he knows how nervous I can get. I'm a good driver but ....... anyone else have my problem?
So I thouhgt I would put a few flower pictures in today to take my mind off it.... Leo can't eat and he is just sitting around this morning. we have to leave at 12:30 and won't be back until 5:30 or so.... I read a lot of my book yesterday while waiting and today will get to read some more. Goldie has a good book. Not what I expected though. I find myself waiting to read more. It is interesting and a good book.

I sure haven't been writing in here a whole lot lately have i ? Well it will get better as I can get pictures in when the flowers are blooming etc. It has been too cold to be outside lately... by the time it warms up its about time to make supper. Its supposed to start warming up tomorrow but down to 32 again tonight... I hope those baby roses are faring well and all the other things I planted. I still didn't finish planting the lily bulbs though... hope soon.
So I went shopping for a bit today and got a book to read... Its a good one too.... Goldie Hawns book  " a lotus grows in the mud" Its a good book so far but I only read 50 pages today. I always liked Goldie... she usually makes me smile and be happy. She is a happy girl.. can't believe she is 60 already. She sure doesn't look it does she. I suppose her secret is something to do with being happy and smiling a lot. :)

JEFF WON !

What a race it was today..... holy cow. Jeff was in the lead for most of the race and a good thing too as there was a crash that took out 25 cars at once... they should fix the rules at that track I say as yesterday there were so many big crashes in the Busch race too.... they tried to gang up on Jeff and take away his lead but he prevailed. He is the BEST I say. I ordered his car that he drove today .... so cute with Yoda on the hood and all... I will set it on my radio in the family room and remember this entertaining race today with Jeff the winner. :>)
