Above is a picture of the slippers I made today for Carley. Rick asked me to make her a new pair for Christmas because hers were getting too small. he wanted me to make them out of something soft so I found some soft yarn but had to make 3 before I could get them both the same size... haha This is not my favorite yarn but what Wal Mart had and I didn't want to go shopping. I think they will be just fine now.
We went shopping today for Christmas odds and ends and get groceries. I dressed warm and it wasn't too bad. It was -2 today when we got up and by the time we came home it was 8 in the sun. It is very cold here and way below normal so maybe we will be getting some warmer weather soon. REally doesn't matter all that much anymore though because freezing cold it freezing cold. :)
I think I will go and read a little now until its time to make supper. Hope you are having a nice day today, Sandra

Freezing.............
Today with the wind chill it was down to -8. Now that is downright cold isn't it. Maybe if we get this out of the way we will get a shorter winter this year... where is that global warming I wonder. Iam trying to be more like Charlie and move around the house getting things done but it doesn't do much good when it gets this cold. I put some nice new flannel sheets on the bed today so it will be nice and cozy tonight. :) I remember complaining a lot this summer because it was too hot for me and now am I going to be complaining all winter because its too cold I wonder.... I will turn into a cronic complainer won't I? So I am going to make up my mind not to complain ....... besides its not even winter yet is it? Brrrrr tell me when its over. LOL
Those darn Packers lost again yesterday. Guess thats the end of it then. They are just too nice ..... guess they are supposed to be tougher.... like those Bears were yesterday. See that is why I don't like football because in order to win you have to be really mean. :>(
Can't wait for baseball and racing to start again.... maybe I will start to watch a little basketball. The Milwaukee Bucks didn't start off very well but they should get better. There are a lot of Christmas movies on now too so I should have something to watch while Iam making Carley her Christmas slippers. I will keep busy and before I know it Christmas will be here and then I only have to get through the weeks of January before I can start looking at the seed catalogs again and dreaming of Spring. One day at a time....... slow and steady wins the race.... hahahahaha.
Bye for now.... hope the day is a good one for you, Sandra

Beautiful Sunny Day
I thought you might like to see my snowmen and the cute decorations I saw when we went to Steins after church to get an Advent wreath. Since they didn't have any left I found a small wreath and some candles and made my own.... just as well I guess. It was fun and It looks just fine on my table.
Oh boy, Leo is not happy. The Bears just intercepted the ball and went 95 yards for a touchdown...... I think Leo will probably go to fleet farm now as he will probably give up on the Packers. haha All he has to do is look for some reason to go... He just finished making a new ice fishing rig. he sees somethiing at the store and then he makes it for half the price or so... His new one is really nice and he did a great job. would have cost him $45 and he had most of the things to make it. I bet it cost less than $5 for him to make it..... Now if I could only think of something for him to make we would be in business. LOL
Hope you are all having a pretty and a nice sunny day too, Sandra

Freezing cold
Charlie is funny today. He has a lot of energy. First he jumps up on the tv so he can see better and then he comes in here by me and plays with my window shade... he wanted it up because I closed it 3/4 of the way because the sun was in my eyes and he likes the sun shinning on him... so he took the handle and it lowered even more so he must have gotten mad because he is outa here now... He is such a good kitty most of the time. lol
It's so cold out today.... a day I don't feel like venturing outside if I can help it..... Now I have to think of something to do to make the day productive. I will think of something........ at least I hope so. I know many would like to have this problem so I had better make use of this day.... Maybe something to do with fixing up the Christmas gifts or writing out the cards. Christmas seems so far away yet though....and maybe I am just not in the mood for some reason or other.... I will go through the motions and maybe I will get in the mood.... ya think? :)
Hope its warmer by you than me..... brrrrr

December Song
Eileen Spinelli
Sing a song
of snowy nights,
of neighbors stringing
twinkling lights,
of sugar cookies
shaped like stars,
and trees tied
to the roof of cars.
Sing a song
of spangled kings
and angels wearing
wire wings,
of paper boxes,
silver bows,
and gifts hid under
attic clothes.
Sing of warm
against the cold,
of simple, peace-filled
stories told,
of drums that thump
and bells that chime.
Sing a song
of Christmastime.

Snow Day
I wish I felt better today but am feeling anxious about something .... just wish it would all fix itself and we could get on with our happy kind of life again.... Funny but you don't realize how good you have it until something upsets the apple cart. It should turn out ok but in the meantime we are forced to wait and worry. I keep trying to tell myself it is all in Gods hands and to just know that it will be ok but its so hard. No one is sick and we are very very grateful for that but this new problem is just so worrisome...... if you can say a little prayer so it gets settled soon. Unless of coarse you have some more important things to pray for... maybe just a little one so we can stop being so darn anxious.... You see someone in my family ( one of my children) was falsely accused of something and it seems to be taking a lifetime for them to get it all straightened out.... I could cry a river over it but it wouldn't help so I just seem to live with an aching heart.....Sorry I can't say more but I probably said too much already....
Hope your day is going well, sandra

This is supposed to be a joke
This says a lot, so I am forwarding it to my friends. This explains why we forward jokes.
A man and his dog were walking along a road. The man was enjoying the scenery, when it suddenly occurred to him that he was dead. He remembered dying, and that the dog walking beside Him had been dead for years. He wondered where the road was leading them. After a while, they came to a high, white stone wall along one side of the road. It looked like fine marble. At
the top of a long hill, it was broken by a tall arch that glowed in the sunlight.
When he was standing before it he saw a magnificent gate in the arch that looked like mother-of-pearl, and the street that led to the gate looked like pure gold. He and the dog walked toward the gate, and as he got closer, he saw a man at a desk to one side.
When he was close enough, he called out, "Excuse me, where are we?"
"This is Heaven, sir," the man answered.
"Wow! Would you happen to have some water?" the man asked.
"Of course, sir. Come right in, and I'll have some ice water brought right up."
The man gestured, and the gate began to open.
"Can my friend," gesturing toward his dog, "come in, too?" the traveler asked.
"I'm sorry, sir, but we don't accept pets."
The man thought a moment and then turned back toward the road and continued the way he had been going with his dog.
After another long walk, and at the top of another long hill, he came to a dirt road leading through a farm gate that looked as if it had never been closed. There was no fence.
As he approached the gate, he saw a man inside, leaning against a tree and reading a book.
"Excuse me!" he called to the man. "Do you have any water?"
"Yeah, sure, there's a pump over there, come on in."
"How about my friend here?" the traveler gestured to the dog.
"There should be a bowl by the pump."
They went through the gate, and sure enough, there was an old-fashioned hand pump with a bowl beside it. The traveler filled the water bowl and took a long drink himself, then he gave some to the dog. When they were full, he and the dog walked back toward the man who was standing by the tree.
"What do you call this place?" the traveler asked.
"This is Heaven," he answered.
"Well, that's confusing," the traveler said. "The man down the road said that was Heaven, too."
"Oh, you mean the place with the gold street and pearly gates? Nope. That's hell."
"Doesn't it make you mad for them to use your name like that?"
"No, we're just happy that they screen out the folks who would leave their best friends behind."
Soooo.
Sometimes, we wonder why friends keep forwarding jokes to us without writing a word.
Maybe this will explain.
When you are very busy, but still want to keep in touch, guess what you do? You forward jokes.
When you have nothing to say, but still want to keep contact, you forward jokes.
When you have something to say, but don't know what, and don't know how, you forward jokes.
Also to let you know that you are still remembered, you are still important, you are still loved, you are still cared for, guess what you get?
A forwarded joke.
So, next time if you get a joke, don't think that you've been sent just another forwarded joke, but that you've been thought of today and your friend on the other end of your computer wanted to send you a smile.
You are all welcome @ my water bowl anytime
My son Toms friend sent this to him today not knowing his dog had died... itsn't that amazing. Tom said he gets jokes from this man from time to time and it just happened he sent one today and it was about his dog.... He sent it to me then in amazement.

Grocery shopping
My son just called me again today.... he is having such a hard time because his big golden lab died last night and he just can't bear it that he isn't by his side today. I am helping answer his questions the best I can and telling him what helped for us but isn't it a tough thing to lose you pal. I just feel so sad too. My big tough son crying and missing his buddy. Its a sad day and I hope the sun will shine for him again real soon.
So now I have to go and hug my furry friends and be happy for as long as I can that I have them. Hope your having a good day and if you have furry friends give them a big extra hug today and maybe an extra treat.... say its from Duke.
Sandra
