Head Cold

I have a terrible head cold today and can hardly breathe so if I don't come in and say too much for a little while you will know I don't feel well. Its the pits.

Crazy Day

What a crazy day I had...... first off when I got dressed I put my exercise shoes on so I could really give the EZ Glider a great workout and I never got on it all day.... just took the shoes off. Maybe tomorrow.
First thing after breakfast I went to my daughters house to give my Grandson his 20th birthday present. My but the time just flew by. I used to  take care of him from the time he was a baby until he started school while his parents worked and then Shari started a day care at home so she could be home with Tyler and Mindy. I think it was the best thing she ever did but I sure missed those kids every day.  After that I decided to take some extra dishes out of my cupboards and then got a bag of clothes out of my closet and went to Good Will with 2 boxes and a bag. After that I went to Target and got some things to organize my closet and my drawers..... see what I mean, it was a crazy day and also a beautiful sunny day that reminded me of spring coming. I worked on my afgan and watched a movie and made a pot of chili and now its almost bedtime. The days sometimes just fly by don't they? Maybe tomorrow will be quieter and I will get on my glider. I really enjoy it but you'd never know would you. :)

Remembering last summer

I'm so anxious for Spring to arrive. I have been looking over my pictures from last year and decided to add a few in my journal to share. I was looking in the yard yesterday because the snow is starting to melt now and I saw some flowers coming up already. I have some daffodils coming up close to the house and also some little bulbs coming up in the back by the patio. If this weather continues we should be seeing grass again soon. Some of my neighbors grass is still green probably from last year yet. It won't be long now though. Maybe another month and it will be greening up. I HOPE.

snow in april

After all our snow had melted in April we got another snow storm and I figured if I couldn't do anything about it I might as well have some fun. It was a warm evening and without hat or gloves and only a light jacket I went out and made a snowman in the back yard. i did have fun and came in invigorated too. Since all our previous snow had melted I knew it would melt fast and since it was only a few inches of packy snow on the ground and dark so noone could see me I had some fun.... Now last year it didn't happen but Iam wondering if it will happen this year. Our snow is melting nice and we noticed some daffodils coming up close to a shrub in our front yard. already 3 inches tall and some other little bulbs are coming up in the back where the snow is melting by the patio. It won't be long now.

EZGlider

I just got my new EZglider and worked out for "5" whole minutes before I said uncle.... lol. How appropriate for fat tuesday...... Iam way out of shape but if I take it slow Iam sure I can get it all the way up to "6" minutes by spring.... hehe
I have it in a good out of the way spot for now and will be able to watch tv and the clock while Im working out. The good news is I can do it and the bad news its not as easy as I thought. ;( but then it wouldn't be exercise I guess. When I work in the yard and garden its also a good work out but so much more fun. Does anyone have one and how are you doing on yours? I suppose I will ache tomorrow won't I? ;)

Baby Brenna's Baptism

I sure had a wonderful day today! I guess you have to go through the bad times to really appriciate a day like this. I was so happy to see everyone and we laughed and told stories and just had a wonderful family day. I will have to put in pictures of my other grandaughter soon too. I guess I haven't taken a picture of Carley lately ~ she wasn't there today so maybe I will take a picture of her next week. Im a very happy Mother, Grandmother and Greatgrandmother. Iam truly Blessed.

I got some great things!!!!!

I got some wonderful plants and bulbs ordered today and some great ideas also. I got 30 American buttercups, 5 clusters of tuberoses , 3 foxtail bulbs , 3 mixed colored hydrangea plants and 2 baskets with flower mats.... Do you think I ordered enough for one day  :) I will get the bulbs soon and I think I will try to pot them up in the basement like they were talking about and just sink the pot in the soil around May 7th and then I can take pot and all and put it in the garage or basement  for the winter... We shall see but I think putting them in pots now will be a good thing and give me a head start. I can hardly wait for spring. The plants won't be coming until around May 7 so I guess we have a little while to go yet before we start planting. Its time to plan now though isn't it.  haha what a wonderful time of the year. I love Spring and can hardly wait.

Flower gardening

I am waiting for qvc to have their gardening shows on this afternoon. I will hopefully see something I want to order for my Valentine present from Leo. :)  It will come just in time for gardening in Wisconsin. I have ordered from there before but its just nice seeing all the pretty flowers they have and plan on where I can put them in my yard.
Its a cloudy day today but its in the low 30's already so maybe some of the snow will melt.... it will probably dry up too because its supposed to be rather windy.... I'm wondering if we are getting the March winds early.
No winds today but that makes for a nice day for the kids and winter games etc!   My husband went to his annual boat show this afternoon. If he decided to get a boat I have no idea where he would put it but its nice to dream and talk to the fishermen I guess.

Sleet and Snow

Most of the storm missed us but it was just nasty enough for us to have to cancel our outing today...
The above are 2 pictures I took after shoveling this noon. The one or two inches  we had to shovel was heavier than the 7 inches we had the other day. Could be because it was sleet mixed with snow. The patio has some of the ice on it yet because I couldn't get down to the cement with my shovel as it was frozen... Not a nice day to drive so we stayed home and all the schools were closed... further up north from us they had between 8 and 12 inches so we got lucky again.
Our son just came home from work and said if you drive slow around here the roads aren't so bad... Most of the streets are plowed (except for ours) I hope it stays that way as we really don't wish to shovel after the plow goes through. The  snow blowers just aren't any good in this kind of snow so we can't depend on the neighbors helping us out this time.... ;(

Just Waiting for Another Storm

According to the weatherman I will be able to make a snowman in the backyard tomorrow or late tonight.... Not that I am in the mood for that. It started melting and I was hoping for an early spring. I'm afraid its not to be as we are in for an ice storm and then 5 inches of snow or so. Anyone wanting to see bad weather now is the time to come to Wisconsin I guess. So far its a nice sunny day but the clouds are coming so Im sure the weatherman is at least partially right. I had better get to the store I think as I don't think I will be driving in the kind of ice storm we are expecting and the way I look at it is if I do stock up it won't happen. Cross your fingers for us. My sisters and I were making plans for a nice meeting tomorrow and in the past the weather has always co operated with our plans. I wonder if our luck ran out this month. Will let you know what happens.

The sleet has started this evening so I guess the weathermen were right............ darn!

Getting warmer

I guess its finally starting to warm up for everyone accross the country.... hip hip hooray. Of coarse we all think warm is a different temp but what ever it is for you I hope your are enjoying a nice warm sunny day today!
I'm just catching up on odds and ends today around the house and going to try and get some more stitching done.
   Have a nice day!

Vote

Today is voting day here in Wisconsin.... lets hope the best man wins.

Its a cloudy day here in Wis so far but I think the sun is going to peek through later today and it should be a nice day.

We went to vote this morning and then got a few errands done. It turned out to be a nice sunny day after all

dafodils

I went to Home Depot with Leo Saturday and they had just gotten some little plants in so I naturally had to get a couple as they were only $2 each. They weren't blooming yet but had little buds way down low.... wow did they ever grow fast. They aree so cheery and remind me of what I will have in the yard in another month or 2. I can hardly wait.
Today went by so fast and I don't remember doing a darn thing all day. I did go to the store and made another pot of chili but didn't really do anything else. I will have to pick up a little steam tomorrow.  I hope everyone had a nice day today and the sun was shinning for you..... our sun was in and out all day.

Jr won!

After church today we just had to pick up a few things at the store and then  hurried home to watch Daytona 500.... A favorite driver won and we were all happy for him. Gee, was he ever excited. The only thing that spoiled it a little for me was watching bush parade around before the race... but I soon got over that and enjoyed the race.... Jeff Gordon is my favorite driver but Junior is second and my daughter in laws very very favorite so I was happy he won this time
It was a beautiful sunny day today ~ the sky was the prettiest blue you have ever seen with not a cloud... of coarse it only got up to 12 today but we know warmer weather is on the way and we are getting used to the cold now. Hope you all had a beautiful and happy day also.

HAPPY VALENTINES DAY

Its a beautiful sunny day again today so I got out of the house. Yeh for me! I just went to Walgreens to get my pills refilled and some medicine for our son, Gary who has the flu, :(  I also got my husband a card and a small box of candy ( he doesn't eat candy and I should not either but I got the smallest box of my favorite kind. ( only 4 pieces) I also got a card that said "from me" and told him we could both use it, lol Are we gettin old or what? Any way he thought it was a cute card and kind of a fun thing to do if it was alright with me.  Leo was happy because he didn't have to go and get me anything. he has a hard time deciding what it is I want ~  he said I can order anything I want on QVC ( my favorite store) So now I can watch and decide what to get. or maybe go on line when I decide. It will be fun for me anyway I do it I guess.
I was watching a garden channel yesterday and I got an idea for a spot by my patio where I used to have a tree. I always put hibiscus in a big pot on the patio but I think this year I will try and plant them in the ground and see if they grow better that way and it won't be so much up keep.  Has anyone ever planted them in the ground? Its so funny because we always get them in big pots and just  pot it  into another big pot on the patio and I think it may need more watering that way and maybe they don't get as big either... I'm going to find out this year I think. I always have to try new things every year and that is something that interests me this year.

?

I just stayed home all day today and stitched on my afghan... very boring aren't I? Maybe tomorrow I will get more energy and actually do something interesting. We did start to get some melting yesterday though so I got warned that the weather will get nice and I will want to be finished with my stitching by that time so I have to get moving. I'm not yet 1/2 finished with one panel.... I did tell you its really going very slow. I can crochet faster than I can cross stitch. When I finish I will be posting a picture... maybe even 2 or 3 as I will be so happy.

I hope everyone had a nice day today  ;-)

Sunshiney day

Just came in to say hi. Not much happening around here. I am busy cross stitching on my afghan so I get it finished before the snow melts. Its going to take me longer than I imagined because Iam slow...  Its a beautiful sunny day here today after the snowy day again yesterday but only got about an inch or so. Not too bad.
I hope everyone is having a sunny day today too. Take care!

wintertime

http://alongpoetryroad.com/feb_artwork.html  This it a poem about winter time in February and it says it better than I can.
I finished the seven panels on my afghan and am now cross stitching the design on 3 of the panels. I figure it will take at least 3 more weeks ~ I have it timed just perfect I think because then I can start planning my garden and I will have finished a nice project this winter.
I went to get 4 different colors of yarn today. I had 6 of the colors but I needed 4 more. Now I can get started in earnest I guess. I had to quit this morning because all the colors were running together. I will have to bring my sewing lamp next to my chair in the family room. At least I got started on one of the roses.

Sunny Monday

Its such a nice sunshiny day today. It snowed again last night but only an inch or so. I guess we have 14 inches on the ground now. Up north they have 45 inches so we are lucky. Its going to take awhile to melt I guess but I don't think that will start to happen til the end of the month or so. You should see some of the snow banks in the parking lots around town... seems to me it will take til July for them to melt, lol
If there were 6 more weeks til winter last week on groundhogs day that means there are only 5 more left.... Its already going fast so I had better hurry and get my winter project finished as I don't want to be stuck in the house for a minute too long come spring. I haven't been looking at the seed catalogs yet but I did buy 2 packages of heavenly blue morning glories at the store the other day... They do the best for me and I love that color!

I hope the sun is shinning on everyone today, take care!

Lazy day

I am just taking it easy today, good day for it too. I made a nice pot of chili and we ate almost all of it already. It sure hit the spot. My husband had gone fishing and my son ice skating so they really enjoyed it. I am just puttering and crocheting and playing with my pets. The sun is shinning today and the ice on the driveway is melting. I don't mind the snow but the ice is not good. I won't go walking with so much ice on the side roads. I got a new pair of boots yesterday that should help but still I don't want to fall on the ice. I almost fell just getting my mail accross the street. Maybe its just an excuse to be lazy as my neighbors go for their walks everyday. ;)

Shoveling snow

We got our snow! I just came in from shoveling it. I did the patio and the paths in the back and then helped Leo shovel the driveway. Its nice and warm and not blowing so it was just nice exercise. We got about 7 1/2 Inches so far with more falling. They figure we will get only 2 more inches and then the plows will come and then the hard part of shoveling will start. Its usually pretty deep and this time will probably be at least 2 feet high in the front of the driveway and mailbox. You can't just throw it you have to walk to a spot to throw it with each shovel full. Its going to get pretty warm today though ~ about 32. That means it will get heavier as it gets warmer so I'm glad we got most of it finished already.

Snow Storm

We are waiting for the snow storm. I don't think it will be the big one yet but we will see. Its going to stay pretty warm so that is a good indication of more I think. So far I heard it could be anywhere from 1 to 11 inches. My favorite weatherman says up to 6 so it will probably be at least 3 for my area. I think southeast of us will be getting more... can't wait to find out. I took a nap this afternoon to get me in shape for shoveling. They say when you get older you should shovel as its snowing so you don't have to shovel it all at once. Thats a good idea unless you know someone who will come over with their snow blower. We don't.

Another winter day

It was another winter day but the sun was shinning all day and it was rather cheerful although it was -6 this morning and didn't get very warm all day. We got a little shopping done because we are expecting another snow storm tomorrow some time. Leo is making cabinets for out in the garage. I was going to buy them but he decided to make them and he is on the second one already. I wanted 3 so we each have a place to put our things and the garage will look neater. I still haven't started painting my cabinet doors in the family room. I guess I have to get into the mood or something. Maybe vitimins would work so I get more energy.... I will have to try that.
I hope everyone had a nice day today and the sun is shinning for you!

Just laying around

We were just laying around last night watching it snow. It was a beautiful night, nice and warm and the snow was covering everything. It makes everythig so beautiful and gives you a nice warm safe feeling for some reason. No reason to get up so we just relaxed around the fire place. Charlie knows how to relax better than anyone though. He wins the prize. Then he gets up and jumps on the table where my flowers are and starts to eat the babies breath. Can you imagine this sweet relaxing kitty being naughty? Believe me though when I tell you he can be a sassy sassy boy. We love him anyway though.
Yesterday it got up to 32 and was melting before we got 2 and 1/2 more inches of snow. But like I said it is beautiful and we do expect it so its fine. We haven't begun yet to think of planting anything outside. It will be another 6 weeks I think before we will be going out and seeing what flowers are popping up....  the chindoxia and crocus are usually the first then the daffodils and tulips.... We do still have a few weeks left to finish up our work we started this winter~ my afghan, and the painting of my little doors and my chair. The chair is rather messy Im finding out so I will stop and finish it in the spring when I can take it out in the yard to finish. I always think its going to be so easy to strip furniture until I get started.
I hope everyone is having a nice day! Stay happy!

Groundhog day

I got up early today to make sure that darn groundhog doesn't see his shadow. Yesterday it was a beautiful day and got all the way up to 29* so I think our bitter cold has finally left us. At least January is over and I can see a light at the end of the tunnel.
Yesterday after church we went to breakfast with our daughter and her husband and their daughter... that was nice! Then we went to Younkers to check it out. Its been in the mall for several months now and we hadn't gone there yet. It is a nice store but I think I will only buy things when they go on sale as its a little pricey but the sales are great. I got a nice pair of slacks. After that we went to Fleet Farm and I looked around and then got the things I need to paint the little doors in my family room ( the ones under the book shelves)
We got home just in time for a little visit from Rick and Carley. They had been sledding on the hills by our house and having a good time. I guess a lot of families were there. Carley and I played a little game and I got some exercise. I think I would really be quite thin if she were here more often. That little girl sure has a lot of energy!
Today is my birthday and I will be drinking my tea out of a new groundhog day mug I just got for the occasion. I sent for it along with the poster and banner all the way from the home of the groundhog in Penn. We have to get our smiles any way we can, don't we?  ;) I hope everyone has a great day!
The groundhog here in SunPrarie Wis did not see his shadow as its very cloudy here today.  I may add its 28* here this morning also. So I guess that means we will have an early spring. In 6 weeks or so we should be seeing grass again but will have to wait until the end of April to have leaves on the trees and that is 3 months away yet.... we will have flowers coming up way before that though and I can hardly wait.
