A little rain never hurt
I'm happy to be going to see all my family tonight though as we haven't been all together for a long time... I'm one of 9 children so that is why I guess. At least we all keep in touch. It looks like it might rain but the weather man said not until later, I hope he's right. Cross your fingers for us so it doesn't start until we are all inside.

P S it didn't rain and we all had a wonderful time!

AOL JOURNALS 1ST ANNIVERSARY
I couldn't get the picture in larger so I gave up immediately since I have to go and watch the convention now... the writing should be large now though as the size is 18 as 14 was still small.... Maybe in the second year I can get them both the way I want again, lol

Just playing around
I have it up to 18 now and its smaller than ever but the picture is big so I'm half way to figuring out whats wrong.
Beautiful Summer Day
I couldn't get any pictures in the big way so I decided to add them this way and then I kept adding and adding. Now I don't have much time left to write anything.
We went shopping yesterday and I bought the CD's of Bill Clintons book. He is reading it so its much easier and more interesting to me than reading the book. I also picked up my glasses. I had transition lenses put in my frames because the sun causes bad headaches. Then I decided to spend some more money and get a new tv for my spare room. I got one that has a 20 inch screen but the back is so long that now I have to get a different cart or table for it I guess. always something isn't there? Right now its sitting on my sewing machine but I would have a hard time lifting it on and off everytime I need to sew. This little room is just getting cosier and cosier with more and more stuff I keep adding... I need bigger but thats not going to happen. I did think the tv was small enough ~ I suppose I was only thinking of the good buy... It was only $128 and it has a flat screen and looks really nice.
We have been having warm days and lots of sun so the flowers need lots of water now so after Peaches and I went for a little walk I watered the back ~ I will do the front later. It takes pretty long and since I am doing laundry and hanging a few things out it will have to wait... now I really must get going or I won't get the clothes I want on the line and they will have to go into the dryer. lol
Have a nice day ~ we are!!!!!!

Just a beautiful day
I'm looking forward to watching the convention tonight... I thought it would be on much longer but maybe on CNN as Im watching Hillary Clinton speak now so It maybe interesting anyway and in the meantime I read one book I got on Thursday and am half finished with another Nicholas Sparks book I got yesterday... I will finish Bill Clintons book too but its more intertaining to read the others and easier too. ;)
Hope you are having as nice of a day!

Day with Sisters
You would be surprised what Charlie is looking for ~ he sees chipmunks and little bunnies and birds when looking out this door and also is getting fresh air. When ever he is not eating or sleeping he wants me to open this door for him and I always do until it gets way too cold in the winter.
Yesterday I met my sisters for brunch and we went thrift shopping and flower shopping... I got a really neat game for my grandaughter. Its sort of a puzzle with the states and when you put one in and press it tells the name of the state and the capitol and what the state is called like Wisconsin is the badger state... and it plays music also like the star spangled banner. it has a handle to carry and a little drawer to put the states in ~ I was lucky because all the states were in the drawer ~ we even had fun with it so I hope she does too. I also got her a couple of puzzles and me a couple of books. I also got 5 more plants and then I ordered some glasses that change to sun glasses when you go out side... forgot the new name for those darn things... Last night I went with Leo to get some plant stakes and of coarse on the way home we passed another flower place and I had to get 3 more day lilies ( they were calling my name) Today is a nice cool day with low humidity so I will plant my flowers and water my hanging plants as they say its not going to rain for a week....
Leo had to take my car back to the shop as he said when he drove it yesterday the brakes were pulling or something. He can't figure out what they did as they were fine before we had them checked. I hope they straighten it out... funny thing when I was driving it yesterday it was driving fine. I guess it has to drive ok for both of us though. It must be pretty bad for him to take it back in though as he usually doesn't do that.
Hope everyone is having a wonderful Friday and if I don't get in soon a nice week end too!

I finally got in again!
This isn't exactly the one I wanted but I got in and added a picture after fooling around a little and turning the computer off for a few hours. It was probably just too busy this afternoon I guess.
Anyway this is my big Hydrangea in bloom. Now I can read everyone else's journals as I have mine straightened out again....... :)
Sandra
I have 2 other entries today too in case you want to see what was going on with me today... the other pictures were already put in the other day and I wanted one like this in and couldn't get it and they kept giving me different reasons... I say the site was just too busy and it was my turn not to get to add pictures today....
Trying to figure it all out
I went to my FTP space and deleted all kinds of pictures and now I was able to download this picture but I still can't get any new ones in because it says something about my internet explorer and browser so I went to fix that and I have the latest version already and then I shut down the ole computer and still couldn't get any new pictures in... this happened to me before and all I had to do was wait a couple of days so I think thats what I will do now.... Maybe its being used to much or something so I give up, lol
maybe the next time I will have a picture of my pretty snow ball bush...
Sandra
It is a warm humid summer day, my husband has the air on so I have been playing outside with my flowers and weeds.... I watered a few things and cut back some plants and pulled some weeds. I got a bucket from the front and one from the back.... about par for the coarse....
Hope you are having a nice day! I am ;>)

Busy day
I was having trouble adding pictures tonight... Maybe its just me as I really don't feel like sitting still tonight for some reason and I want it finished faster than it can be done, Oh Well, there is always tomorrow and I did get a little picture of Peaches and Twinkie... Hope you think they are at least half as cute as I think they are. ;)
I went to the flower sale again today, also went Sunday. All the Perennials were 45% off so I got a dozen. I gave 2 to my daughter. That way I only had to plant 10. I got a painted daisy, bearded tongue, Cardinal flower, black eyed susan and 3 Mallow Hollyhocks and 3 Helitrope I put in a large pot hoping I can bring them in as they smell so nice and are pretty too.. I got them all planted and watered so now I can just sit back and see if they will grow.... I never have enough flowers I guess and always making more work for myself but its so worth it if they all grow... some like the Cardinal flower I try every few years but so far havent had much luck with it.... but never say die is my motto and since I like them so much I had to try again...
I also got my laundry finished today and even hung some clothes on the line and they dried so nice.... it was pretty warm today and there was a breeze blowing so they were dried faster and nicer than the drier! I love days like today for hanging out clothes.
Hope you had or are having a nice day!

Johns next assignment
The above are some pictures I took today of some of my flowers....
John wants to know what is the most discusting food we ever had in our mouth and for extra credit he wants to know what product you think is so discusting you would not buy.
Well I don't usually eat anything discusting but when I was a young girl I thought oatmeal was.... My mother told me to sit and eat it and I threw up in the bowl and never had to eat it again... now I try it once in awhile but I prefer cream of wheat for hot cereal.
The food I would not buy is peanut butter and jelly in the same jar... don't know about you but I like to keep my peanut butter jar clean with only peanut butter in and my jelly jar the same. I usually use a knife for peanut butter and a spoon for the jelly... am I the only one this way? ;>)
Its bedtime now so I must go... early day tomorrow. Hope it is a nice restful Sunday for everyone.
Sandra
PS John says he likes oatmeal especially in the form of cookies.... I simply love oatmeal cookies too and anything else with it, just not in a bowl cooked as cereal. lol

Since my car is still in the shop I finished reading the book I bought Sunday.... I should have gotten it at the library instead of paying for it though... It was Nicholas Sparks "The Wedding" it was good though but a very fast read ~ nothing like Bill Clintons book though and now I have to get back to reading some more of that one before I read another book.... I have to take his in 200 page increments.
We went out to eat last night and after went to look at some flowers my sister told me about ~ day lilies they are.... I bought 2 plants that are so hearty looking and one is in bloom already and the other has many blossoms...The name of them are " Lady Lucille " usually when I buy a day lily I have to wait until the next year to get flowers but these are really neat plants... I still haven't planted them though as I want to put them in the best place and so far its down to 3 different spots...
We are having another nice day today ~ hope you are too...

Warm Summer day
Leo went to the car dealer this morning to talk about getting it fixed and since he is going he decided to have everything checked and flushed and tires rotated and spark plugs changed~ going to cost a fortune but since I like my car and it only has 33,000 miles on it since I got it in 96 we decided to get the works.... for piece of mind so tomorrow it will be in the shop all day.
Yesterday after church we went to a couple of stores, I got 2 nice books at Barnes and Noble. One is a Novel by Nicholas Sparks.... Bill Clintons book is too long so I wanted to take some time out from that one and then I found a little gardening month by month book that I also can write in( for Minn. and Wisconsin gardeners), and then came home and watched the race with Gary and Rick also came over... Leo was watching golf. I think Racing is more exciting though. I am in a fantasy league with Leo so we do discuss golf quite a bit too. And for good measure he asks me if anyone got into an accident or fight lately. lol.
Today we went to the garden store and I bought a few little flowers to replace a couple I killed by too much kindness and also got another tomato plant while I was there as they were on sale.... not a great big one but hopefully I will get some tomatoes yet this year before the frost comes ;>)
Oh, I almost forgot to tell you about the picture.... It is the poppies I am always talking about and sharing with everyone... I got some seeds from my neighbor who got some from a friend and we have been sharing them every year since.... so easy to grow. The flowers turn to a big seed head and if you don't save the seed it just seeds itself in the same spot and then you will have to pull some out to thin them ( an easy thing to do) You don't even have to plant them but just sow the seed where you want it to grow either in the fall or if you forget early spring asI have done both and both work fine. some are very big and some are smaller and dainty and both are beautiful I think... some area pale pink and some are almost red.... I didn't get too many red though ~ must have given those away I guess. I will have to ask my daughter for some of her red seed I think or else I may have pulled the red ones out.... ;>)
Hope your gardens are growing nice and pretty too.

Sit and Chat
I wish you could come and sit on my porch with me today ~ we could sit and chat about all the fun things we have heard on the aol journals and watch the cars go by and maybe have some lemonade or iced tea as its going to warm up today.... Wouldn't that be nice... Of coarse if it gets too hot we could go into the house too... :>) Someone asked what makes me so happy as my journal seemed so when she stopped by.... Wouldn't anyone be happy to see all these beautiful flowers blooming again and my sweet pets to play with etc etc etc.... and my family is healthy and pretty happy for the most part too.... we all have problems but life is too short to dwell on them isn't it.....
Hope your having a nice sunny day!

A junk food haiku for John's assignment
I'm going to try to hide the haiku in with this picture because I have never written one before and I just came up with this one.... maybe I will think about it some more and come up with something better but probably not as Im not a poet of any sort. Here goes:
Buttered Pop Corn
Mountains of snowy white fluff
Hot, not cold winter stuff
Hot buttered pop corn
Mountains of snowy white fluff
Not cold winter stuff
is the second one right?
Saw the Sun
The sun was shinning when I got up this morning but it is very windy and the clouds are coming.... at least the wind will dry up the rain and it is supposed to be coming from the south so we are supposed to warm up later today and the rest of the week... only 58 this morning though. Good night for sleeping with the windows open!
This is a picture of some different lilies that are blooming now... I have a lot of flowers opening.... mostly lilies, day lilies and roses... I see I have a few clovers in this picture so I suppose its time for weeding again... I'm sure I will be adding more pictures as the days go by. Have a nice day!

Cold and Rainy
Here is a picture of my babies that I promised I would add... Twinkie on the left it almost 1 and 1/2 now and Peaches is 2 and 1/2. They are looking at me through the screen because I promised a treat. They usually are close together but hard to get the right picture sometimes. They are the sweetiest pets in the whole world along with Charlie... Of coarse they are mine and I would have to say that as I'm sure you would with your precious pets too.
We are supposed to be getting warmer and sunny days starting tomorrow so I will be able to complain about warm, humid and rain soon. It seems odd that the flowers are blooming the same as always even if it only gets up to 63 to 69 the last few days with cloudy skies and rain. Its always hard to imagine the sun shinning when it stays so cloudy and cool... we are still waiting for our summer to start. This has been the strangest year. The corn is not even close to knee high by the 4th of July. First time that has happened in awhile. Leo thinks the reason has something to do with ~ what was it? a planet passing the sun last month or so??? Could be as we aren't the only ones getting strange weather are we? Any way I hope the sun is shining your way and you are having a wonderful day!

Charlie
It turned out to be a nice day again today so I cut back some plants and took some weeds out and got 2 garbage cans full for Leo to take to be recycled..... I also got 3 more videos to watch this week... I haven't gotten any for quite awhile and now with the 6 I picked out all together I guess I will have to wait for more good ones to come out.... I watched sea biscuit today and yesterday Calendar girls and liked them both... Going to watch the Girl with the Pearl earring next I think... Not getting much reading done this way... I'm on about 200 in Bill Clinton's book so far and find it interesting.

The zoo
We had fun at the zoo yesterday for a couple of hours while waiting for Leo's doctor appointment... turned out good at the doctor too. We thought his cancer was coming back but the doctor said he had a virus that was giving him a sore throat... we were worried. It sure is nice to get good news but always a little scary waiting to see. I was so worried I had to take a zanax and after hearing the good news I got so tired I had a hard time keeping awake and ended up in bed at 9 o'clock last night and slept the night away..... Feel great this morning though... Usually stay up to at least watch Letterman every night.
Today its a beautiful morning but is supposed to rain by 3 and all night long... so I don't have to water my gardens today. Maybe I will do a little shopping and then come home and watch the race. It should be a good one tonight at Daytona. I'm looking forward to it! I have a couple of movies to watch also before I have to take them back on tuesday ( will let you know how they were) I watched Cold Mountain yesterday and had to fast forward it twice because I don't care for the army stuff but the rest was pretty good.... well almost. If they just could have taken the War stuff etc etc out of it it would have been a great movie. maybe I should make a movie and let them all know how to do it.... Fat chance of that happening though, haha....
Have a wonderful day and take care,
Sandra
P. S. Hope you like my zoo pictures as much as I liked taking them.

John's week end assignment # 13
John wants to know which of the founding fathers we would like to hangout with and have a beer with.... sorry I don't want to chat with any of them if they are drinking.... I would rather sit and talk with Betsy Ross and get tips on sewing and have a cup of tea and listen to what she has to say about the founding fathers. I think that would be more interesting to hear her point of view. :)
I can't believe we are going to have another beautiful day today.... The weather man predicted rain the other day but it never came... now he says its supposed to rain Saturday... Ok with me if its only for one day ~ its the string of days when it rains that gets depressing. I hope you all can have a beautiful day today.

Full moon
Its another beautiful day here in Green Bay today! sun shinning and just a slight breeze with temps in the 70's. Just a little bit of heaven today I think. We had to go to the store so I got my hair trimmed while I was there... I hate making appointments so just go where I can walk in. I have to make an appointment for my little dogs soon too, they need their nails trimmed etc.... and Peaches needs a shot.... such nice puppies I have!!!!!! My kitty Charlie is a honey too. I must add some more pictures of them soon.
Hope everyone is having a wonderful day.
