Busy Busy Day

The race didn't turn out to our liking Sunday and now we have to wait 2 weeks for another one. :( Jeff was doing fine until almost the end and something went wrong with his car.. Jr's car wasn't good all day either... at least Jimmy came in second and my least favorite driver didn't win even if he came in 3rd..... They will just have to get their cars fixed is all I can say about it... should be able to do that in 2 weeks. Jeff had to leave his good car in Daytona because he won the race there and that is the rule. They keep it there for a year. Jr must have gotten his car back but I suppose after just sitting there for a year they really can't use it like it is..... Better races are coming.......
We were really busy today. My laundry still isn't finished and I like to have it finished on Monday but we both had a doctors appointment this morning.... Mine just to get my Meds checked and blood work done and Leo had to get a little growth on his eyelid checked and then he made another apointment for a complete check up.... that is for a week from Tues and his growth can't be removed for a month.... At least he got some pain pills for his back and neck. He has arthritis really bad there. I have it in my back now too but not nearly as bad as his. Doctor thinks if I loose more weight I will have less of a problem so back to the ole grindstone...  didn't say I just lost 10#s because I weighted too much on that darn scale as it was.... So I shall try a little harder and see what I can do... at least I didn't gain it all back... thanks to all the work I have been doing around the house with the fly lady. She keeps me moving. Maybe another 10#s will show some improvement..... its so hard. Even the nurse was saying so, LOL It doesn't help my back with the snow shoveling either. There isn't enough to use the snow blower but I like to keep the patio cleaned off because of my little dogs. They come in with little snow balls clinging to their fur.
Well, gotta get back to my laundry. Just wanted to come in and say hi and let you know what we are up to.... Got some shopping done today after the doctors visit too and now Leo is off paying the bills.....

Snow on Friday

Today according to the fly lady was to finish up in the master bedroom... supposed to clean the top of your dressers. I can't believe Leo is actually cleaning his.... I bet there was an inch of dust on top and he didn't want me to touch it... The fly lady rocks! It seems if there is only one thing to do it is easy and Leo is even getting into the swing.... laughing about it even. He took everything off and polished it with furniture polish and got the vacuum out and cleaned all around it and didn't put everything back... He didn't throw anything away or give anything away though but it does look better. he took a couple of things down the basement... I sure hope the fly lady doesn't make us clean that any time soon...LOL
I thought I would also put a pic in of my shiney sink.... Its unreal that I have been keeping it shining for so long. It feels good!!!!!!
I almost forgot... it was time for pampering your feet day today... Fly ladys instruction was to get a plastic tub and put some marbles in the bottom and add Epsom salt and warm water and soak your feet... I did and my feet will look good this summer in sandles I think if I continue to do this every so often. It felt good!
We had snow last night but not too much. enough to shovel but its already melting and the patio and driveway are nice and dry now. Im glad we didn't get all the snow they got up and down the east coast... I heard a lady say she would like to get some snow... think she lived in Tenn or some where around there.... funny funny lady. Its almost spring for goodness sake so what would she want snow for when the weather there is so nice now... guess we are never satisfyed are we.... I think she is thinking if she gets snow it will melt the next day. I supposed then it would be kinda fun wouldn't it.....
QVC is having fashion day today and I already bought my limit.. I think I should stay in here and read all the journals so I don't get tempted again... I must remember for everything I buy I must give away something so I had better be careful... I have to give away 2 things if its not the same and I already gave away half of my clothes this winter. :) Do you think I can count those for this time because I didn't get anything new when I was giving them away?????????
So off I go to read the journals... Maybe I will watch that channel that cleans up the clutter in peoples houses... what is that show called anyway and when is it on. I cannot believe they have so much stuff but its usually in cities where they don't have basements and attics to store stuff probably. One time I saw a garage that was so full they couldn't even walk in there much less put the car.... We can still get 2 cars in ours so it can't be all that bad yet..... ya, right....

Where does the time go?

Seems like it was just Monday and here it is Thursday night already and another week end almost here. I think I have been too busy doing stuff the fly lady suggests. I got so much work done and can't seem to  stop.... I cleaned the windows inside today and mirrors and tables and tv's etc and then cleaned out a book case that just had too many books in it.... looks nice now and I have some waiting for Good Will. I love having a neat house but it was always such a big job.....Now with the fly lady giving me things to do .... one thing at a time it seems more like a game.... finally. Wish I would have known about her sooner. Probably would not have made a difference before though.
We are supposed to get snow again this week end. I don't mind the snow but I want to go to church... hope it is on a better schedule this time. The weather man said March was supposed to come in like a lion so what else is new..... by the ides of March we should start to be getting hints of warmer weather and my house cleaning will be coming to an end for another year. LOL Then we can work on the yard. It will be fun too.

Just a nice day

We had a nice day today.... guess what we had to do for the fly lady today..... clean the dust bunnies under the bed. I have a few containers under my bed so I had to get them out and check to see what was in there and then get the dust bunnies out... It was fun because thats all I had to do today... my major job, LOL I had one little container under there I didn't need so off it went and now I will have to decide what the others are doing under there. I have some craft items that probably could be stored down the basement and one other one for Carley when she comes over but she doesn't really look under there any more... lots of crayons etc in there but she never liked to sit still and color... she is not like me or my other grandchildren.... She likes to be moving all the time or watching a movie.... wonder if I should give the things away..... I have to think about it some more I think. I think I will give some of it away and keep some. Maybe. We also went to the store today and got a few things. I went to Steins garden shop to see what was new... It looks like spring around there already. I bought a few little flower things to put in the back where flowers don't grow and I need some color. thats it... then to the store for a new ironing board cover and a space bag to store the bleankets and pillow my son used when he came for a visit.... hope he comes back to use it again soon.

The snow is all cleared up now on the road and sidewalks and drive... It doesn't take very long for that at this time of year but it will be a couple of weeks I guess before the snow actually melts anywhere else. We sure did get a lot this time. Im thinking at least 6 inches but I didn't hear what the weather man said. I think it was different amounts though depending which side of town you live on... I heard in one of the accidents yesterday someone died. Im glad I stayed home. There were a lot of sirens going around here at different times yesterday.... morning and later in the day.
I got my 27 things or more thrown out today and 27 things to give away. Also did my laundry and cleaned up the house and shined my mirrors.... I guess I like to be reminded what to do and the fly lady sure reminds me. I love a clean house though. Funny but I didn't know what I was supposed to do today and woke up really early today just thinking of what I could throw away and give away and where to look for it.... finally found a drawer in the family room where I store candles and pictures ~~~ it does not store them anymore... I also remembered she said to throw old lipsticks etc away. I threw the makeup away and gave the candles away... now I have an empty drawer ..... Probably not for long though. Was thinking its a good place for magazines. I also found a pretty box in here to store the pictures and got rid of the junk that was in the box. I wrote on it there are pictures in there so when I am ready to do some scrap booking I will know where to look.... So now I think I will go and read for a little while.... It was a good day as winter days go. Spring is only 26 days away.... Hip Hip Hooray!

JEFF WON THE DAYTONA 500

AFTER 2 WEEKS OF GETTING READY FOR THE DAYTONA 500 MY FAVORITE DRIVER WON. WAY TO GO JEFF!

Now I can go out and shovel some snow again... its funny because its snowstorm Gary. I should make him go out and shovel. I have shoveled the patio for the dogs twice now and Leo did it twice... and its really really snowing yet. We didn't even get to church today because we kept hearing sirens and the weather man said the roads were slippery, especially the back roads. I figured we should stay home so noone runs into us... Wish I could have gone but next Sunday I will for sure. We hardly ever miss and I don't like starting a week this way but thats what we decided to do.... gotta be careful.... :)

SNOW DAY

The above is a picture Leo took with his new key chain camera. Not bad, huh? It should be good enough for taking pictures his fish and anything else he chooses anyway. What a deal!

Today we are getting lots of snow. Probably about 6 inches the man says. I don't feel like getting ready to go to church in this storm but Leo is already getting ready so I guess we will go. Personally I wouldn't drive in it and I hate wearing boots. I hope this is the last major storm this year but you never know...... Its still Feb. after all.

Friday I finished cleaning my refrigerator and a few hours later Gary informed us the refrigerator was not working as his pizza was not frozen. So Leo went and got his tools to take the back off and I helped him move it out and thats when it dawned on me I had forgotten to turn it back on..... Oh boy. Mostly everything in the freezer was still frozen though so we didn't lose much. I guess that will count as some of my 27 things to throw away now won't it. Ha ha.   Wonder what I will have to do tomorrow for the fly lady.... My sink is still shinning :>)and the counter is still clean and now I have a nice clean refrigerator and large cupboard and linen closet and bathroom cabinets cleaned. I'm also having a good time throwing things out from other rooms too. I'm going to have to look harder pretty soon to find things to give away and throw away. Pretty soon I will be counting lint I suppose. lol

Another Sunny day

Today was the day for cleaning my refrigerator ~ I got it cleaned on the outside first and then did the door...(inside shelves) I haven't cleaned it for awhile so I'm taking a break. So far it looks really nice if I may say so myself. I wonder why I kept putting it off. I think I will try to keep it nice and clean from now on...... :>)
Not much else going on around here today. Its a pretty day but colder. I guess we will be getting temp's in the 20's for a few days now before it starts to warm up again. 29 Is the average temp. for this week so we are right about there... Can't wait until it's 32 and always melting. The sun may melt some of the snow though but we still have a lot.
A friend of mine sent me a few seeds in the mail yesterday. The flower is so pretty! has anyone ever heard of a Bleeding Heart Vine? The flowers are white with red centers. I sure hope I can grow it and get more seeds as it is really a Beautiful plant. Does anyone know anything about this plant?

HAPPY VALENTINES DAY

Its a nice sunny afternoon! We got some snow last night and this morning though. I got to shovel and get some exercise this morning and Leo got to use the snow blower after the plow went through. The snow was too heavy to shovel that part so the snow blower came in handy for that part. Its already melting now though as its about 40 or so... Probably the warmest day this week but Spring is coming!
Leo was in the mood for buying presents for me this year... He got me this huge Teddy Bear... Its really soft and cuddly. He also got me a pretty sweater and a watch.... Oh and I got him a present too. QVC was selling digital cameras on a key ring... it has the program and the cord to get the pictures etc... I thought it would be fun for him to take pictures this way of all his fish and he wouldn't have to get them developed.... He loves it... :>)
I got a lot of work done today............ after shoveling I did my laundry and cleaned the house and then cleaned 2 shelves in the kitchen.... Now I have that cabinet finished and it sure looks nice. I can actually find anything I need now. I got a long feather duster in the mail today too so I went around the house dusting all the lights and tops of everything....Now tomorrow I won't have anything to do.... I will spot clean the house and sit and do nothing all day, LOL  I doubt that but I don't have to clean the refrigerator until Wednesday.... Im going to give it a thorough cleaning.... Won't that be nice....haha. Actually its not that dirty, just around the edges where the crumbs get lost.

Sunny day

Racing is starting already.... I guess time does pass and now soon it will be spring too won't it. My favorite time of the year with so much nice weather to look forward too. I hope its not like last year as in August we were still waiting for summer to get here.. It was a strange spring and summer... hope this one is more to my liking.
I was out side today and saw the flowers in the front are turning green and the sun is shinning and its going into the 40's today. Leo went fishing early this morning so I guess I will be staying home... Im reading a book and watching the race practice and tonight the Bud Shootout will be on. Pretty soon it will be baseball.... I really like baseball too so all good things are happening soon.....
My son Dan called me this morning to tell me he was baking 3 pies. What a guy. He said he needed my input but it sounded to me like he had it all under control. he always liked cooking, Maybe he should have been a chef or something.

A Little light snow today

Today was a nice day even if it was snowing a little all day. I got my Linen closet all cleaned out... did the last shelf today. I had space left over after giving a large orange fleet farm bag of things to St Vincent DePauls also a smaller bag full. So I started cleaning under the cabinet where I store my vases... I took them all out and put them in the dish washer and the ones I liked I kept and the others are going to good will.. I think I kept too many but I will think about giving some more away soon. They are so shiny now I hate to part with them, lol
Next is my kitchen cabinet where I store the plastic containers.... going to get rid of a bunch I hope and get the kind that fit inside each other.... Im getting to be a neat freak.... well not quite. It will take awhile longer Iam sure. I bet I gave away at least 200 things from in my linen closet alone.... Why or why was I saving it all I wonder. Supposed to be a linen closet but its too big just for linens, and I keep the extra blankets in chests. The linen closet is in the bathroom and I just don't think its the place to store blankets... I still have a few things in there I can get rid of I guess but I will wait until the kids come over and see if they need anything before I do... All in all it was a nice day and my sink is shining again today.... I'm gettin obsessed..... well maybe not.

A cloudy but warmish kind of day

I found a singer I like on the Late Late Show.... funny how that happened, after Letterman I started to watch the late late show and fell asleep and woke up to hear the best singer I have heard in a long time... Just a young girl who is from England now but lived in Ireland too... Her name is Katie Melua... I love her style and she seems like a nice girl. I hope she gets popular around here too. I wonder......
Today was a day to get a lot of work done. I cleaned out another shelf in my linen closet and gave away 27 things and threw away almost equal amount. I kept putting this one off and it was easier than I thought. Its amazing if you don't make it a big thing how easy it is just to do one shelf at a time.. and it  makes me so happy to have it finished. One more shelf to go and its all finished. Can't wait until Wednesday , LOL  Can you imagine Iam waiting to do some house work.... Its almost exciting and I am a person that was always overwhelmed with house work... thats what the Fly Lady and a shiney sink is doing for me.... hehehehe... I wish I would have found this fly lady 20 years ago... oh well, I guess its my time now though. I also brought my book back to the library and the 2 bags of "stuff" to St V's bin and did my laundry and finished knitting the mittens.. I don't like the size of these mittens either... think I will think of making something else now.... or maybe not... we shall see.
I hope whatever you did today made you smile too.... I keep looking into the linen closet and smiling. Aren't I silly :>)

A Beautiful Day

Its such a beautiful day today! The kids in the neighborhood are skating down the street and riding their bikes... the 3 girls accross the street are sitting on their driveway just talking and enjoying the sunshine... oh for Spring to get here and stay awhile. I cannot stay on my computer long because you know it won't last forever. Just had to come in and say hi and let everyone know Im still among the living... Hope you day is at least half as nice as ours is, Sandra

FEBRUARY 1

YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW HAPPY IAM THAT JANUARY IS OVER... Let the fun begin. I always have had trouble with January because its so darn cold. Today its melting and now the sun is starting to peek through. It's not too bad when you only hate one month out of 12 is it?
   I have all kinds of Groundhog things around my house.... could it be because I was born on Groundhogs day and I think Iam the major predictor of Spring? 
   Actually there isn't much to talk about today just the weather I guess. Oh and the picture of the 4 girls on the refrigerator... the second one from the left is me when I was in 8th or 9th grade. A friend of mine just sent it too me... what fun days those were!
  I have been following the fly lady a little bit and yesterday I found 25 more things to give away. Now tomorrow I have to do it all over again but the house is getting cleaner. Leo wanted to know how I was finding so much  and didn't I need to keep it?  NO NO NO Its like clothes if you haven't worn it in 1 or 2 years its time to give it away, right. Im cleaning out my linen closet and  it seems whenever I get something new the old ends up in there... 25 things are gone and its only 1 shelf. I will be busy in there for awhile yet I think. I have to keep opening the door and looking in ~ can't believe the difference in only 1 day. You know if someone comes over I always wonder if they look in the closet, but pretty soon I won't be caring about things like that anymore because they will look nice.... I hope. I cleaned it out last year too and its full to overflowing again... I must have just moved the stuff around a bit instead of giving stuff away.. Think of the work I will save if I give it away. So I am having fun cleaning. Can you believe it?
