another cloudy day

Our Grandson just left with his two daughters.... what a nice guy he is. He called to see if it was ok to come and i said as long as I didn't get too close to the girls it would be just fine so they came..... such sweet little girls he has.... but he is a great guy too so it figures....... They brought us a framed picture of the girls and a beautiful Christmas tree ornament with a stand..... we are blessed
I still have this darn cold so am getting "plenty " of rest and so is Leo..  the only thing I did today was take a shower and fix my hair and do dishes... oh and ordered a new pair of shoes. I like birkenstocks and they sold a pretty pair today to match my new purse so I thought I needed a pick me up and splurged......
Havent been doing much ...... the other day I went to the drugstore to pick up some pills and of coarse Church on Christmas day  (which I enjoyed) and just doing laundry and cleaning house.... same ole same ole things. I don't sleep in the daytime so I get a good rest at night. drinking plenty of water and orange juice and the cold seems to be loosening up finally.
Our new neighbor stopped by today to bring me some toasted pecans she made.... with the sugar etc.... very good but I probably will be only one eating them ,,,, nuts are good for me but can be fattening too so I have to watch it. Julie gave us a big basket of goodies too and guess who is eating that.... I have to find someone to share with. she has bags of candy from the good candy store and carmel corn and fudge among other things in there.... I have to share with someone before I eat it all..... Leo won't eat sweets any more because they don't taste right to him.... lucky me huh.... I love sweets but I was just beginning to lose weight again now that I have this cold....
we had a quiet Christmas but it was still nice. We all got lots of presents ~ actually too many. Leo was just looking and wondering what to do with it all.  He just gave a bunch of  clothes away and now he has to fill the closet up again....
Carley is home with Rick this week and they are supposed to be making a popsicle stick house... if they do I will show you the picture of it.
So thats about it around here..... we did get some snow yesterday and we had enough to shovel. it looked so pretty but it got warm and mose of it is melted already, Im sure we will be getting a lot more. too badit didn't stay for the kids on vacation so they could go and play in it longer. we always liked it when it snowed at Christmas time. Did you?

Presents all wrapped

I can not believe I wrapped all the presents and Shari and Dan and Mindy and Ryan are on the way to Florida with gifts for everyone in their car from us.... What a load off my mind and its only Wednesday....yipee.
Shari and Dan are using our van and we have their car.... Leo says its hard for him to drive because of his neck so I guess that means he will be getting another van this spring...... His cancer is gone but the radiation sure wrecked the muscles in his neck so its hard for him to raise his head very far. He should probably get a brace but doesn't want to..... just like he doesn't want or like to wear his glasses all the time. His choice so I must not comment. :>)
It was supposed to be a sunny day today but its cloudy.... maybe tomorrow because its already 2:30. Charlie "my cat" had fun while I was wrapping presents because I threw paper and bags etc all in a pile and he was hiding and playing with the stuff..... pets are so like kids. I think Peaches was trying to tell on him. haha  Now I have to finish my laundry and empty the dishwasher. Im pretty sure Im going to ask Leo to get take out for supper tonight,:)  I think thats the least he can do, right?

Sunny day

So things are looking up..... about time too. I wrapped all the gifts that will be going to Florida this morning and am satisfyed they will have a nice Christmas...lol  Shari and Dan and Mindy and Ryan will be leaving Wednesday morning .... I guess I was down to the wire in wrapping. If the others go as well I will be happy.... I even have a house warming present for Tom and Cindy. We got them a digital camera so they can send us lots of pictures so we can be closer.... they don't have one so I got them one like the little one I keep in my purse only a new updated version... hope they like all the gifts..... and know how much we love them too....
  I sent Leo to get two big bags to put some bed pillows in I got for Shari and Dan.... They never buy a nice new one and I got them the best.... Dan loves pillows and took an old one I no longer used so I think he will be sooooo happy don't you? Once I know what to buy I love shopping for it but don't like to wrap presents..... something like cooking.... don't like that anymore either.... guess I've been there and done that so many times its not fun any more and I get nervous doing both. afraid I won't do it good enough I guess.   I will be so happy when Christmas eve is over and Im sitting in church Christmas day singing Christmas carols etc..... That to me is really Christmas anyway but I have to make my 7 kids and their familys happy first.

Maybe when the presents are all wrapped and it starts to snow I will really get into the mood and play all my Christmas records. I noticed Gary strung christmas lights in his window and he has been playing Christmas music and Leo has been watching all the Christmas shows and movies he can find on tv.

time for an entry

My sister said it was time for a new entry so I will try to add something...... This seems to be a hard time of the year for me. Something always seems to happen to make it not as nice as I would like but I'm working on it and trudging ahead..... :>) We had a little party for Tom and Cindy at Shari and Dans house Sunday. I took a few pictures before my little camera was full..... Tom and Cindy didn't make it until it was almost over anyway... they were taking longer to fill the truck then they thought (besides I don't think Tom likes going away parties) it was a nice party and Shari had the house fixed up so nice. But its hard for a mother to say good bye to another son  any son for that matter. They moved to Orlando Florida where our other son and his wife live. They love it there so much and things hadn't been going so well job wise here and they were planning on going in 5 years anyway so they just went early. Im happy for them and hope all goes well. They already have a nice house and both have jobs starting tomorrow already. Shari and Dan and the kids will be spending Christmas time there too. It is so pretty at Disney at this time of year.... we went one year too and liked it a lot but I don't think the other kids were happy that we went..... what is a mother to do..... so we were asked but are staying home. Things aren't the same but you can never expect them to be I guess. I will sure miss them all and its hard getting their gifts ready and then sending them off.... so I guess Im feeling sorry for me and I had better stop it....Lots of good things happening and we are all healthy so Iam happy. I'm planning a small supper for those that are here on Christmas eve as always and I will be happy when its over.... there I said it and now I can get on with it can't I. I act like Iam the only one whos kids are not here for Christmas...... sorry. I know better and I have my cards sent out and all presents bought but NOT wrapped yet..... it will be nice when thats done too. So am I getting everyone discusted with me yet????  Im sorry It will get better.
The weather has been so nice.... almost warm but certainly warm for this time of year. A lot of people are wishing for snow but hope it doesn't until after Shari and her family leave. They are borrowing our van again this year. Mindy and Ryan are driving one of Tom and Cindys cars to Florida and will be driving back with Shari and Dan.... Dan is a good driver. I know they will have a good time and can't wait for them to get back home...lol 
So there Janice is my interesting journal to let you know what is going on around here..... Oh and Leo scrubbed the carpeting and it looks like new again..... Im so lucky he does that aren't I.....

Where did the sun go?

Hi,

I have been Christmas shopping ~~~ on the computer and it is so easy this way. I find out or think of something the kids want and bingo just like that I have gotten it and don't have to fight the crowds or look around all over for it.... Things are looking up. I have most of it finished already.... will get some nice boxes of candy yet and give a money card for the kids or most (the older ones) I don't know anymore what they want and money is always nice I guess. I still have to think of something for my Great Grandaughters so maybe I will go to a nice store and  find something pretty for them. That is a fun shopping day anyway.
I'm so glad Thanksgiving is over now and I can concentrate on just one thing.... Leo has the 3 big evergreens trimmed now with lots of lights and they look beautiful. they are getting so big he needs one of those big sticks and a tall ladder. We should tell them they can stop growing now. lol We won't be putting lights on the house because it will take away from the pretty trees I think. Our daughter and son in law said they don't put them on the house anymore either.
Today I got up and hurried to take a shower to get ready for church and its only Saturday. lol I was sure it was Sunday and couldn't figure out why Leo was still in bed. So this is a free day and unexpected too. Wonder what to do. lol
It was so sunny and nice this morning and now the clouds are coming, I liked the sunshine much better. :)  It has been nice and warm for this time of year lately so I guess now it will be getting cold again.

dreary day here

Hi,

It's  another dreary day today and cold too. I hope the sun comes out because that always makes me feel better. Not much happening around here lately. Just the regular stuff. Thanksgiving is coming so fast I just can't believe it. time sure does have a way of flying doesn't it. I have been trying to get some Christmas shopping done. With 7 children and their spouses and children etc it is a long list and Iam trying to give each one something nice.... Not an easy thing to do anymore. Now if they were children I could have a list a mile long but once they leave home and don't visit often any more its becoming harder and harder. I think I'm getting depressed just trying to think of presents for everyone.so far I have Presents for my daughters and husband and 2 grandaughters.... the easiest to buy for too, wouldn't you know. I have something in mind for 2 sons so that only leaves 100 more presents. haha I certainly can't wait til the last minute or some would be without I fear.
See I'm letting this weather get the best of me aren't I.
Leo and Gary and 2 others are going to the packer game Sunday. They asked me to go but I don't want to. I'm going to stay home and watch the last race of the year. We will have to go to Mass on Saturday this week. I've had a little cold this week so couldn't get my flu shot yet... should have gone sooner I guess. But I guess it willbe better late than never as the saying goes/

First snow fall

Our first snowfall of the season. One that will stay for a little while probably but by Sun it should be melted I suppose. glad we got our yard work finished because I don't want to do it now, Leo sure helped me a lot this year and made everything so nice and  neat.
The first snow is always so pretty but it would be nice for Christmas too. hope we get a white Christmas eve. :>) I hope people remember how to winter drive so their aren't any fender benders tonight. It's Friday night and everyone is starting to come home from work and school so I will say a little prayer so everyone uses good sense.
I had to take a few pictures to show everyone. I was going to say something else but now forgot it all. Just rolling along here and doing what you do daily and knock on wood everything with us is fine. Hope it is with you too. I think I should come in more often. Iam always surprised when I do and see how long its been. This way though no one will get tired of me anyway.

Rain and clouds and cold

Its a very chilly dreary day today and Im just being lazy all day..... It feels good! Yesterday I finished cleaning my bedroom and putting only clothes I wear through the winter and giving things away I don't use or haven't worn. My closet is nice and neat now.... I even put my summer shoes in the back of the closet in their shoe boxes.
After that Leo wanted to go grocery shopping so off I went.  I didn't have a good list so we bought 100 dollars worth of nothing and I already have a list of things to get for next time.... besides you shouldn't go to the store hungry should you.... :)
  Teri is already back in Florida ~ it was a fast vacation but like Leo says it just seems to fly by the older we get...
I'm so glad we have all the yard work finished so if it wants to snow now it can go ahead. we are ready except I suspect we have to get the snow blower and shovels out yet. :(  always something right. We didn't get all the windows washed either so I suppose we will be looking at those windows all winter unless we keep the drapes pulled. lol
I hope everyone is getting used to the colder weather and daylight time back in place etc.... Now its time to think of Christmas shopping already. I bought 1 present so far and am already stuck on what else to get. I will think of something again this year I know but WHAT is the big question. I got one of my daughters an afgan made with a picture of her grandaughters woven in. Its such a cute picture and she will have it for a long time and always remember her little darlings at this age for many years... I didn't get it yet but as soon as I do I will put a pic in here. It will be a couple of weeks yet.

Clean yard?

After working in the yard again today I decided it was time to take some pictures of the cleaned up yard.... Mostly cleaned up anyway. we still have a few things to do but it is looking so much better.... Leo decided to let a few things wait for another day because it is such a beautiful day he decided to go fishing. Tomorrow its supposed to be much colder and very windy.... not a nice fishing day. We are almost ready for the snow to fly but not quite.... lol. I hope these pictures remind me not to let it get out of hand next summer so fall can be more fun. :)  It is nice to have a reason to get outside though.
Teri ( Mike's wife) has been here visiting from Florida for a few days. Our daughter and son in law had a big Halloween party Sat night and she was just here telling me of the fun they had and what everyone was wearing... when I get the pictures I will share them with you.

Just stopping by

I was coming in to look up a journal but noticed I haven't written for awhile..... Just want to let you know we are fine if I haven't written in your journal for awhile.... Fall is a busy time of the year, so much to do and so little time. haha..... I came in because I sent Leo to the store to get some mushroom soup for the meatballs I'm making. Gary doesn't like tomato sauce and I figured if I'm going to cook I will try to please everyone. It isn't always the easiest thing to do though. Leo can only eat foods that are easy to eat and Gary eats most of what he likes except for tomato sauce but sometimes he does but that day we always have left overs.... say .... Maybe that isn't so bad after all.
   Mike's wife Teri is coming to Green Bay for a week or so but is staying with her family all but about 3 days and she will be staying with Shari this year....She can have a better time that way because Leo and I aren't exactly spring chickens any more and don't have a clue as to what she wants to do..... I know she likes to stay with Shari and Shari and her family always stay with Mike and her when they visit Florida so its only fair I guess. :) 
So now I have to get into the kitchen and finish up supper..... I forgot what I came in here for anyway. lol

Cold Rainy Day

The pictures above are of my daughter and a little girl she baby sits and my Great Grandaughters. Im afraid that was the last of a beautiful day to play on the patio. the weather is cold and rainy now. I think it came a couple of weeks early so maybe we will still get some nice days but the 15 day forcast isn't looking good.
We have been busy every chance we can to clean up the yard.... front and sides are finished and even mulched in front but the back is only partly finished..... we are dragging our feet I guess. Somehow it doesn't seem like the most important thing any more.
Yesterday my husband turned 70..... boy that seems such a long way from 69   :>)  It will be my turn in the not so far future too..... ugh
we went shopping at Penneys yesterday and I got a pretty bracelet and necklace and earrings.... they had a sale I couldn't pass up .... so I got myself a present for Leo's birthday.... I gave him his favorite gift.... Money but he didn't spend any yesterday but today he spent a little at Fleet Farm.... He likes to spend it slow I guess.... Whatever makes him happy, I say.
We got a Christmas tree in the mail today but its too clumsy to bring down the basement so we will probably keep it in the kitchen for a month and then put it up..... the box can be used as a table in the meantime I guess,,, :>(   Oh well.
So now I'm going to finish making a pot of chile for supper.... Hope everyone is happy and having sunny days, Sandra

A BEAUTIFUL FALL DAY

Friday I went to the store and they were setting up for their big fall pumpkin and corn stalk and bales sale and when we stopped their today everything was gone..... they must have had the best prices in town I guess. I couldn't believe my eyes ..... most stores have them on sale for weeks. I say good for them. I bet it was profitable for them too as people also stopped by and did their grocery shopping.... I love my little store. :)
We have started to clean up the yard and I suppose tomorrow I will finish the front.....it is supposed to be warm out tomorrow so maybe I will get lazy but I will try to cut back the rest in the front anyway..... I like my yard to be cleaned up for winter so when spring comes I can just enjoy it for awhile....
My husband, Leo has shingles and it is so painful. I know because I had it 2 winters ago and was in so much pain... this is his 3rd week and the blisters are starting to dry up now and he says the pain eases up some now too. Mine lasted a whole month and it wasn't good..... now I understand why they have shots for chicken pox.
I should take some pictures of the pretty fall colors but I have so much to do that after I work in the yard I like to sit on the porch if its warm enough and tomorrow it should be... It was a beautiful day today and I'm enjoying the nice fresh air coming in the room tonight. Hope everyone is enjoying the beautiful fall weather, Sandra

Wow its been a long time

These are a few  pictures to show what has been going on in my little corner of the world.... we had a wonderful Anniversary dinner with the kids and now we have some things to remember it by too plus lots of pictures. They all speak for me so I don't have to say too much more.
The weather here has turned and it is now fall here. Nice sleeping weather again...lol
Yesterday Leo's 2 sisters came over and we chatted for about 4 hours...I actually enjoyed their visit which isn't always the case but it was fun and just what the doctor ordered because we laughed a lot .... a good thing, right. I didn't take any pictures but I brought them in here and showed them a lot of my pictures. Neither one have a computer which to me is soooooo sad. lol   I can't imagine not having one anymore, can you?
So now I'm going to go and play some games so I can get some more badges in pogo..... Iam addicted I think. The only thing wrong with it is it makes time fly by. It's a nice place to go when Im trying to kill time waiting to go somewhere ect though.

For The Birds

We enjoyed the birds this morning eating on the seeds of the anise plants. Sometimes there were at least 20. Mostly yellow finches with sparrows etc.... I usually cut them back but this year I have been a lazy gardner and I think I will be from now on... The bunnies etc like my yard and so do the birds.... and I enjoy them all in my yard too... :)
It is a lot cooler here today and the sky is grey so its a good day to stay in mostly... :)  Sweatshirt kind of weather finally!!!!!!

Lazy day

Here is the picture I promised of the wreath I got yesterday for our front door.
It's a lazy day today being labor day and all. Not doing anything but the necessary things today and playing games on my computer. I have been working at getting badges. lol I finally figured out how to do a game and won a badge so I'm Proud of myself today. :>)  Doesn't take much anymore does it.
It's just a cool sort of day and cloudy but nice. It can wait until tonight to rain I guess.... I don't really mind and those that want to go on their last picnic before school starts it would be a good thing if it held off. I'm sneezing and have a little runny nose today.... hope its not a cold..... nah ..... I think its just the weather.

Beautiful Sunday

It's another beautiful sunny day today. The 15 day forcast is for temp's in the middle 70's and mostly sunny. My kind of weather and at night it will get down in the 50's.... yipee !
  I was watching tennis for a bit today. Andre's Last tennis match..... too bad it had to come to an end but I'm sure he will do  something with tennis yet.... He is a nice man!
  After Mass we went to Penney's and then to the Buffet to eat lunch.... after that I bought a new fall wreath for my front door. I will have to take a pic of it soon and put it in here won't I...... :>) I bought a new shirt at Penneys because I couldn't resist a good sale and besides I like the shirt.
The race won't be on until 7 tonight so I have a lot of time .... I just learned how to play Plinx so I will no doubt play that for a bit today too....

Thursday already, where did the week go?

I thought I have been writing in here more..... I have been busy I guess. the weather is so nice that I feel like working lately. Monday and Tuesday I started working in the yard.... getting rid of some flowers to make it look neater and then Wednesday I decided the living room could use a little neating up too. so I changed around the furniture and cleaned it good.... and today was the Doctors to get the clamps out of my head. It went well and now I just have to let it heal a bit more and soon I will be able to actually comb my hair the right way again. so Im happy.
We have been having neighborhood trouble with a group of boys that seem to just be hanging around one house and getting into all kinds of trouble. Someone now figures if they put a camera aimed towards the house and show it to the police they will have to do something about them..... I wonder. they have way too much energy and way too much time I guess.
So thats about it for me. I think I will go and watch David Letterman now so Good night and I hope tomorrow is a good one for everyone. Sandra

Beautiful Sunday

Thought it was time to do a little journaling myself instead of just reading and commenting now and then. It was such a beautiful day today. After church we went to Steins (I was looking for a wreath for my front door) but didn't find anything at all. Came home ate lunch and spent the afternoon reading on the patio. It is such a lovely day!!! Oh and I didn't say but the doctor called to let me know my lump was not cancer so I have been floating around here lately. Thursday is the day I should get my 10 or so clamps removed if it is all healed enough. He said sometimes he has to leave a few in. Now I feel like finally doing some yard work and getting on with my life....... finally. It's so bad that I let a thing like that take over my life sort of.... other things have been going on around here too but things are doing pretty good now. I guess I can't expect everything to always go the way I want. Like another Son and Daughter in law moving to Florida.... I like all my little chick a dees near me but they have their own life and must live it as they like.... also Rick's x wife is planing to move out of the state and Rick has to go to court....  I hope things work out for him as she can really be mean. say a little prayer. he is a wonderful father but she like full controll. She is always telling him she comes over here too much.... if it were up to here our family would never see her and she loves coming here.....
I finally joined Pogo because I love to play canasta so now I can get into all the games anytime and not just when they decide to give me 2 free weeks.  So now besides reading and yard work I also have games to play. LOL

My lump is OFF

My lump is finally cut off.... the doctor said he sent it to the lab but the test may not get done because he may use it as a golf ball.... I have a funny and very nice doctor! the freezing isn't out yet so I am hopeful the pain isn't too bad. he didn't think it would be but if it is he will prescribe pain meds.... just have to use what I normally use for pain if I get some... I sure hope not. It was a new experience getting my head frozen..... My whole scull felt like it was burning for a minute but then it went away. I am so happy its off and I have a regular flat head again, LOL
So Iam going to get sympathy from my family today so I will use it and just sit and read and watch tv or something like that.... I deserve it >>>> right? haha
It's a beautiful day here so far. My favorite kind of day (except for the surgery) so I will hopefully enjoy it.... oh and guess what, My other doctor said I would have to have my hair shaved around the lump because of the stitches,so yesterday I went and got it cut short because I figured it would be awhile and no I did not have to have anything shaved .... jokes on me. He put a bunch of clamps in my head but not the old fashioned kind I remember from when my  son got hit in the head. My husband likes my new hair cut though so its ok.

Journaling for how long?

All this talk about journal anniversaries got me to look up and see how long I have been journaling. This journal has been going since Nov 7, 2003 but that is just when I got this new computer. I started journaling before but since I had to start over with a new email address I  don't know when I first started but it looks like it was close to the beginning.... its been nice but I am getting lazy with mine lately and don't post entries every day any more but I read everyones every day and when I'm finished I don't have much time to write in mine..... (my excuse and I'm sticking to it)
Tomorrow is the big day... I have to go and get a lump cut off my head.... so maybe I will come in again tomorrow and let you know I survived it.... :)
Leo was going to the store yesterday and ran into our son Ricks car that was parked in the road accross the street. He knew it was there but guess he wasn't thinking so now he is going to the insurance office to see about it.... he dented the back door and his bumper has to be fixed too... we feel so bad about this but he works for the car dealer so it should be fixed like new...I sure hope anyway.
After church yesterday we went to the store and I got a new pair of red slippers.... I love them because they are so comfortable and I love red. :)then came home and watched the race. Rick and Shari were over for awhile too so that was nice! Shari brought me some of her tomatoes because mine got blossom end rot this year. :( so I just threw the plants out.... I planted them in pots so I won't be doing that again... they were beautiful plants and the tomatoes were plentiful but they all got the rot even before they got big.... lesson learned I guess. Shari's tomatoes taste very good and I will be having some sandwiches with them today.
We are supposed to be getting rain today so its starting to cloud up this morning. We still need the rain.

Beautiful days now

Hi everyone
I finally got some pictures in here from Mikes short vacation. It went so fast but he had a wonderful time and a lot of pictures were taken so he has his memories too.I think I have about 200 pictures all told.... so the 42 I put in is only a small sample. LOL I have everything cleaned up and all the laundry done etc, but I have some pictures in an album already and some good memories for me too. The weather was perfect and he went for a few long bike rides in between outings. He drove Garys new car to go visit a friend and had the vacation he said he has been needing for a long time because he has been working hard and long hours.
The weather here has been cooling off so I started to cut back some of the plants in the yard that need it.... Everything grew so big this year and some of them actually look rather messy so I am going to neaten things up in the yard now. It will give me something to do for the next month or so because I don't plan on doing it all in a day.... When you get old you can do it that way and it is nice. I got one garbage container filled yesterday so I have started.... it should be all taken care of by the time the snow flies again. haha

Friday already?

It's Friday already... the week went pretty fast. Our terrible humidity and heat left finally. It will be in the 80's today and nice. I think I will hang a few things on the lines today and finish getting ready for our son Mike's visit. He will be here from Sunday to early Sunday next week. Looks like a good week coming up too. So I'm happy. Yesterday I cleaned out my computer room to make room for him to hang his clothes and put the airo bed up..... and room for his suitcase etc too. He likes it in here because its quiter and has 2 nice windows and a tv and computer in case he can't sleep. I won't be able to be in here as much but thats fine for only a week.
I have to get busy now so I can get some groceries in the house too.... all his favorite things, :>)  I hope anyway....

Try 100 degrees???

The tall ships came into the port of Green Bay this week end so we went down town to get some pictures and I thought I would share them with you.... they turned out pretty good... I took my big camera so I could get closer.... We went early in the morning before all the people came and before it got too hot. It's really going to get hot today.... they say it will feel like 115 but "only" go to 100. I was just out there watering some of my plants and its pretty hot already. I sure hope our air conditioning keeps working or I will have to go and spend my time in the basement where its always cooler. Thats were we always went when it got hot as I was growing up.... We spent many many summers without it.. I think its only been about 6 years since we got ours too. We did have one in the window before but then It's so much nicer to have it all over the house.... now I'm spoiled.  Just today and tomorrow I guess and then it will go back down into the 80's. I like the 70's so much better though with night time in the 60's or lower.
I think I can go do a little house work now and then water the pots in the front later.... Hope its cooler by your house, Sandra

 

 

TOO HOT

IT'S TOO HOT.... TOO HOT .... TOO HOT TO CUT THE MUSTARD ANY MORE.... LOL  EVER HEAR THAT ONE?   IT WILL BE HOT ALL WEEK END AND UP TO 100 AGAIN IT SEEMS BEFORE IT COOLS DOWN AGAIN... As long as I keep watering the pots and the tomatoes I guess they will survive.... question is will I??????  I finished another book and have another one waiting to be read. I took the big Mary Stewart book back because I wasn't in the mood for it.... maybe some other time.
Our Son Mike is coming for a visit from Orlando in a little over a week ....hope it cools down a little for us that week. He said it would be just nice to come home and relax though as he has been working hard and some long days......

HOT HOT HOT HOT

It sure has been hot here the last few days.... 90 and above ...... too hot to do much in the yard. Last night we got a big rain and some areas got hail but we didn't. Just a hard rain. We needed the rain badly so we are not complaining. It might rain again tonight and we still can use more.... I was only outside for a little while today. About a half an hour working with my flowers and then some time reading under the umbrella on the patio..... I just finished reading two more books I got on a 7 day loan at the library Saturday. they weren't big books but both were good. The first one was "Star Lake Saloon" by Sara Rath and the other one is "If You Could See Me Now" by Cecelia Ahern.... she is the 24 year old daughter of Irelands Prime Minister.... I never read a book like this before but it was interesting..... very good!  If you get a chance you should read it.... Now I'm going to read a book with stories by Mary Stewart.... I hope some are stories I haven't read yet. It's a big book so I have it for a month....
My other next door neighbors had their house for sale for one week and they sold it already. They were very nice neighbors for 9 or 10 years and will hate to see them leave. Cathy told me the lady that is buying her house has 3 children ~ the youngest 11. Sure hope they aren't sassy boys like our other neighbors are.... Only time will tell. I can just hope for the best though can't I?

back from Doctors

Just came in to let you know I just got back from the doctors office and he thought it should be done in the hospital so I have to wait until August 22 now..... he said it wasn't that big a deal and could do it in the office but something might come up and they had more things in the hospital just in case....so I'm playing another waiting game. Anyway I found out he is a nice doctor and I felt comfortable with them so it should all go just fine next month....All that worry for nothing.
Now I have to go eat lunch and then do my bills and get back to living. haha.

80 degrees at 7 am

I went out for a little bit this morning. Just long enough to take a few pictures and let the dogs out and am back in again..... I can't stand the heat and humidity this morning. I hope we get some rain today and also hope it cools down for everyone really soon. I don't remember it ever being 80 degrees at 7 am before but thats what we got today..... I have to do some grocery shopping today but I do have air in my car. So thats it for today....... nothing but complaining about the heat. Hope it cools down for you today too, Sandra

HOT HOT HOT

Hi everyone. Its been awhile but I have a lot on my mind lately and hopefully it will all be over with by this time next week..... cross your fingers for me and I will try to explain later next week..... Things are getting much better around here and hopefully my little operation next Thursday will go good too. Then I can begin to talk about the every day good things that happen around here.
It's so darn hot around here today. Just about 100 and sunny. very very sunny but too darn hot for me. I don't know why or how anyone can stand this kind of weather as a normal thing. I sure can't. I would rather go out and shovel the snow then have this terrible weather. It's even hard to breath out there. I'm so lucky we have air conditioning. I remember when it used to get hot and no air we would go down the basement where it was always cooler. Thats where my cat Charlie is today.... smart boy. I read a book yesterday and today...... can't think of anything else but I did have to go out and water some plants too before they burned up....
The book I read is Johanna Lindsey's Captive of My Desires..... A good old fashioned love story about pirates and old ships etc.... fun to read on a hot day.Tomorrow I'm going to read Danielle Steel's new book.... always an easy read too..... and I will also watch the race

Hot, Sunny Sunday

It was very warm today but it was a beautiful day anyway. After Mass we went to the garden store and I got a new planter and Leo got some bug spray and we got a new birdhouse.... now I have the three we were planning on this winter. Leo is painting the post and then I will show a picture after he gets it put in place with the other 2.
   I read 2 more books this week and today I made a couple of pot holders.... Rick asked for a couple when he was here today and I gave Shari 3 on her birthday and Julie's birthday is coming up so I will probably give her some too and then there is Mindy with her new house that she and her friends are renting in Oshkosh.
The books I read this week are "The DAys of Summer" by Jill Barnett and the other one is "Digging to America" by Anne Tyler. they were both fast reads ...... good summer time books for reading on the porch or patio. Maybe I can get 2 more tomorrow.... :) between reading and crocheting I can keep busy ~ with watering the plants and cleaning the house etc..... It's beginning to be a nice summer.
My neighbor called me last night from the hospital and asked me to get her mail and paper for her... she is getting chemotherapy and she thinks she got a virus or something because she got diarreah and the doctors are trying to find a cure for it. so far she has been there 3 days..... I'm praying for her. She is so tiny and she said she is very weak..... sure hope they find something for her soon.
The kids in the neighborhood are playing around with fireworks..... 16 year old type of kids (boys) and We are all keeping our eyes out for our houses.... sure wish they would find somewhere to go besides tormenting the neighborhood... So far today it's quiet.... guess the parents are home.... last night they weren't. Sometimes I think 16 year old boys need supervision more then little ones do... Not my kids though because they were perfect angels..... haha  I was always home though so they probably caused problems somewhere else......   I did keep a pretty good eye on them though..... most of the time   :)

Pictures before the storm

Leo and I went to the farmers market this morning. Thanks to my sister Janice reminding me in her journal. I got some yummy things as you can see in the picture. I also got some hand embroidered dish towels, nice big ones just like the ones my Mom used to have. I bought them from a lady that still is making them plus quilts and other things and she is 83 now and is wondering how long she will be able to keep it up.... I told her I would think of her every time I used them... and thanked her too.
I also decided to take pictures of my yard as you never know what it will look like after a storm. They are predicting one but you never know. Things look nice now anyway and I won't have to water except for the pots on the porch that won't get any rain so thats a good thing.
I was thinking of going to the zoo but I will probably wait until another day ~ I might melt if it rains. LOL

My Daughter Shari's Birthday

It was a good morning to take pictures but its raining out now and very dark.... its good for me because now I don't have to water the yard. Shari and her family plan on going out to eat tonight though so I hope it clears up for them.
I haven't been writing in my journal very much lately have I..... just have been busy reading. those 2 books I got the other day were to good to put down. I took them back today and got 2 more. I also went to the drugstore, post office and Piggly Wiggly to get a few groceries and then to Shari's to give her a Birthday present. She is baby sitting my Great Grandaughters today so I got to play with them a little too. They are my daughter Julie's grandchildren. Sharis kids aren't married yet. Mindy is in Collage and Tyler is just starting a new job and his girlfriend as a couple more years of College yet too.
Nothing new besides that today.... Leo has been fishing and Gary is working everyday but will have the 4th of July week off.... so will Shari and Dan and my sonsRick and Tom ...... we should plan something I suppose, huh?  I suppose it will be fishing and golfing for the guys and I will find something to do as usual. I like being home the best I guess so thats fine with me.

A Very Beautiful Day

It sure is a beautiful day here in Green Bay today! the humidity is low and the temp is just perfect for me.... in fact it was so cool in the house today I'm wearing a sweater. We do need rain so I have to go out and water the plants if I want them to continue to grow I think. I have been watering the pots but not the ones in the ground and now they are starting to turn brown in some spots.... not good.
I went to the library today and got 2 new books to read. a small one I can only have for 7 days but it will be finished sooner as its a pretty good book. The one I was reading was so slow reading I decided to put it down for awhile and get a couple new ones..... I was right because I got a good one. :)  Leo went fishing today and got some huge cat fish but he put them back in the water. One didn't want to be caught and pulled the rod right out of Leo's hand and he got another pole and fished it back in... he said he got it back on the first try..... I was wondering why he wasn't wet... I probably would have tried to go in after it, lol
So thats about it so far today. yesterday I got a new movie to watch.... Pink Panther with Steve Martin.... I heard its good so am saving it for a special time. I have been watching a few good movies this week on the Hallmark channel. Tonight I will be watching the Nascar drivers qualify for the Sunday race. :)

humidity is lower!

I just had to put a few pictures in today to show what a nice day we are having today in Wisconsin. :)  The humidity is gone and a nice cool breeze is blowing. Much nicer than the 90 and humidity we had over the week end. I just may go out on the patio and sit for awhile while its so nice.

warm and cloudy

It looks like it may rain so I went out and took some pictures before I miss out. I'm just sitting around today waiting for the groomer to call and tell me my doggies are finished. I can hardly wait to see them all clean and pretty again. I waited too long this time so they should be looking and feeling a lot better. I suppose I will be taking more pictures this afternoon. :)
I was worried about my neighbor lately because her sons have been coming and cutting her grass and staying with her most Saturdays.... she is a single woman and a nice friend and neighbor. I heard bad news from another neighbor last night. She has lung cancer... So I feel really bad today.... Say a little prayer for her if you would. Thanks, Sandra

warm day

I haven't had much to say lately but I did take a picture of my beautiful clematis yesterday and thought I would show you how pretty it is this year.  It still has a lot of buds so I should be seeing flowers for awhile yet. Funny but I put it on a tiny trellis and it flips over on itself and looks almost like a bush now doesn't it. I think I will leave it as long as it is staying so pretty.
  I went to the store for a few things for supper this morning and returned the movie I got last week end.... "The March of the Penguins" very good and then returned my book I finished reading... also a good story. Then I brought a big bag of clothes to St Vincent DePauls bin by church.... Now I think I will just do a little crocheting.... I'm making some pot holders for my Grandchildren. Mindy is going to be moving into a house with some College friends and Tyler is planning on moving out sometime soon.... well he has been saying that now for a year or more so I guess he is just waiting until he knows for sure he will have enough money. His girlfriend still has a couple more years of school I believe so maybe thats what he is waiting for..... not sure. :)

partly sunny

I entered this once and now I forgot what I had to say.... the other one disappeared. :) 
I went to the doctor today and everything was fine... now I hope its only one more visit in 3 weeks and I will be finished.... I hope. I'm trying to take better care of myself and started getting my teeth fixed and now the doctor and then my eyes.... I will feel so good when its all done. things I keep putting off and making into a big deal and if I just would do it it would be so much better. I will learn eventually  I guess. So far I have lost 14#'s too which I believe is helping my blood pressure go down... I suppose after I lose about 20 more I will have to go back and get my presure etc checked again.... but I will do what must be done because I want to feel good...... wasn't feeling the best there for awhile but am starting to get a little better.... after the doctor we went to get a new flag for Flag day on Wednesday. the old one looks so dingy ~ I wonder if it can be washed. I think I will try before we burn it. I believe its nylon, so it should be washable.
now after putting this in twice I think I had enough computer tonight and will go and read for awhile. Hope your haveing a good night, Sandra

cool but sunny

I got a picture of the butterfly but couldn't wait for it to open its wings because Leo was cutting the grass and left the gate open and Twinkie got out.... I had to go and get him and shut the gate and by that time the butterfly was gone..... maybe another day. :)
I spent all morning putting my pictures on disks and deleting them from my pictures and my documents.... I had so many I couln't find the one I was looking for anymore.... Now it will be better for a few weeks I hope. I remember when it took me even longer when I had those little floppy disks and it seemed like I could only get about 10 or so on one if I was lucky. Remember those.... these cds are so much better aren't they.
So now its time for lunch already...... if you want time to speed by you just have to start doing something on the computer.
So off I go now to find something else to do..... It seems like Leo is always cutting the grass these days..... but he keeps it fertilized and its been raining off and on so I guess that is what needs to be done... I guess its good exercise for him and he always keeps it looking nice so I should be happy I guess.....

Rainy day

Even thought its a rainy day I decided to take a few pictures. Leo said it is going to storm even more later and I'm afraid I won't be able to take any more for awhile.... supposed to rain hard and be windy maybe..... we needed a little rain but I don't believe we needed a storm..... but who am I to decide that one, huh?  I didn't do much today.... just the ordinary house stuff and a little laundry. Should have done it yesterday when it was sunny I guess but then what would I have left to do today..... I did get some clothes out I had in storage that are a size smaller and they fit so that is nice..... some things I don't really like anymore so will be giving them away. I have too many clothes anyway and always like to get a couple of new things each season.
I am going to go and finish reading my book now I guess ~ only a chapter or 2 left so am wondering how it will end.

Beautiful sunny day!

It is a beautiful day today..... very beautiful with low humidity. Just the kind of weather we wait all winter for. We have been spending the last couple of hours just talking to friends on the porch..... we have solved all the worlds problems.... LOL 
   I'm reading another Debbie Macomber book I got at the library... It was a rental and I only have a week to read it but I  about half finished already and just started it yesterday... The name of this one is Susannah's Garden.... She is easy to read and I keep going back and reading another chapter. I fell asleep last night reading it but woke up at 4 am and am still up... I think I will go to sleep early tonight. It's nice getting up early but 5 would be much better than 4 because I'm tired already and its only 5:30.....
I pulled some weeds today finally got the big picker that was just huge and already in bloom... it had yellow blooms. I had to get a shovel to get it out. haha  I usually don't let them get any where near that big. Then when my daughter came over today she said some bird or butterfly likes them and I should have let it grow.... oh boy but that thing was getting as big as a bush. I just never wanted to get my fingers picked I guess and I had so many all around the house too. Wonder why this year ~~~~ must be the year of the picker.. :>)

Dr visit over :)

I am back from the doctor and good news too. my Blood pressure is back to normal. he was right, it sometimes takes a month to find out and its been a month and its better than before. Sure makes me happy. he also adjusted my other pills and took blood.... hope I don't have to take so much of that potassium as those pills are big enough to choke a horse...LOL I also lost 10#s in the last month and he said I am doing everything just right and we were both smiling big time when I left..... still have to take my pills but thats ok because if I am feeling good and getting healthy that is what counts.... :>)
So Now I guess I should find some work to do around here and make myself useful. Need to do some laundry but can't hang out as we are going to get some rain I guess. Ok there too because it is supposed to cool down a bit and maybe get rid of the humidity. Leo is cutting the grass in a hurry because its growing so fast. Bye for now. Hugs to everyone, Sandra

Expecting another storm

It says we will be getting another thunder storm today so I decided to take a picture of some of the flowers that just started blooming today.... the tree peony and the yellow iris especially. I thought if it cools down in the next couple of days the flowers will last longer but not if we have a bad storm I'm afraid so I got my camera out and took some pictures to put on my computer so I can see them from time to time....
I didn't do much today.... cut back a couple of flowers and went to get some groceries and teh usualy stuff you do every day around the house.... Its been a good day. Tomorrow I have to go back to the doctor for my check up and I sure hope it goes well. I lost about 9#s this month so that should help, right?  I hope anyway. It's just a beginning but its beginning so that is a good thing. Now all I have to do is make a small supper and maybe watch the movie I got a few days ago. Cheaper by the Dozen 2.. Hot and Humid today

Good thing I took the pictures of my flowers yesterday because we had a terrible thunder storm last night with hail and some of the iris are on the ground today. We had a siren go off in the middle of the night with tornado warnings so we had to go sit down the basement around 1:30 for almost an hour and I had been sleeping so good.... but there wasn't any  more damage to our area so that was good. my son is a firefighter in Green Bay and called to ask if we were ok. I guess there was some street flooding and trees down in the area and he told us to be careful.... we were and today is another hot and humid day ..... tomorrow too I guess but then it should be in the low 70's for a couple of weeks... so I'm happy. I can sit on the porch again without getting too uncomfortable. I just finished reading  a Debbie Macomber book called" A Good yarn"  she is the author of The Shop on Blossom Street. It was very good, I enjoyed reading it and started to crochet again... I'm making my favorite pot holders. I also have some other books to read and look at too. When the weather cools down I will go to the flower shops again... it was too hot today so we just went to Barnes and Noble to get a book and then came home to watch the 2 races.... they are over now.... my favorite didn't win. :)
Tomorrow we will probably see if there is a parade and probably go, I wanted to go to the mass at the cemetary but its so early I don't know if we will make it..... Have to catch up on the sleep we missed yesterday I think.

Warm sunny day

I guess its just about time I put an entry into my journal... time sure does speed by at this time of year doesn't it? I took some pictures of my yard this morning. It's unblieveable isn't it how fast things grow.... I'm finally going to plant a few tomato plants this week end but not much else... I have so much planted already I don't need to plant any more. Maybe I will just enjoy summer this year. I did get a few hanging baskets and some plants for my planters and need one more but I saved a lot of money this year by not buying too much.... well it's not over yet so I will probably get a few more things but I'm not going crazy like other years and we will see if anyone notices. :) I'm happy the way things are so thats what counts isn't it.... My tomato plants came but are very very small so I wonder if I will get any of those great tomatoes..... I will show you if I do.
We haven't planned anything this week end but maybe we will go to the parade and of coarse church and probably at least one day of shopping.... Garden shopping :>)  If I do I will show you what I got. Hope you are having a wonderful holiday week end too.

New window box

My daughter came over today and asked me to go flower shopping with her.... I couldn't refuse so off we went. You would not believe how hot it was in those green houses. I could only stand it for a little while at a time but I did manage to get a few pretty flowers. when I got home I planted them in the window box inserts and my husband was kind enough to finally put the box back on the house. he made a new one over the winter and I am very happy to have it back in place. The flowers always look nice from inside the house to as we sit at the table and eat especially. Almost inside and the cat can't chew on them.... I always liked window boxes. They are so easy to plant and water etc. This one is in the shade so I have some pretty begonias in again this year. Some years I can't find pretty ones but I couldn't pass these up. actually they were prettier then they look because a few big blooms broke off on the way. I put them in a bowl of water and they are pretty floating now. :) I bought a sweet 100 tomato plant also but haven't figured out where to plant it yet.... those little cherry tomatoes are so sweet and I love eating them ( like candy) and good for you too.
Now we have our work finished and its raining again.... oh boy. at least it isn't as hot as it was in that green house. Wonder if the flowers will adjust. I hope they do without covering them.

Sun ~ Rain ~ Sleet ~ Sun

Maybe by next week I will be able to bring my big plants outside... I just got a notice from Burpee saying my tomato plants are on the way so that must mean its time.... thats a good thing. I was cleaning today but these plants are just too big to dust around. lol its my excuse and I'm sticking to it. Charlie is going to miss the plants and he has been pretty good with them. Every once in awhile he will go to them and chew on the leaves but I don't think he actually eats them.... but it will be nice to have them on the patio and be able to water them from there.
It really has been a strange day today. First it was nice enough for Leo to go fishing for a couple of hours but then it rained and then it got sunny for a little while and then it rained really hard and hailed and then it just rained with the sun shinning but I couldn't find a rainbow... darn. But since I had my camera out and Charlie was posing so nice I took his picture. :)
The neighbors are moving in big time today and so far we just saw a husband and wife and a son that looks like the young Harry Potter. So cute and about 10 I would say. They may have a daughter too who is older than the son but maybe its just a sister who is helping to move.... they look like a very nice addition to the neighborhood,,, :)  Already put their grill on the deck. so are ready ...... It's nice to know its not empty anymore.
So thats about it for today. I'm making chicken for supper and boiled red potatoes and veggies.... I'm hungry and its only 3:45  so I will have to wait... Gary gets home around 5 and we eat then. Hope you are having a nice day too.

Mothers Day Cake

Yes, I did get my Dairy Queen cake for mothers day and it was delicious.  I hinted and one of my sons went to the Dairy Queen and got me one. he said that it was great because he didn't know what to get me. He enjoyed the cake to with the rest of the kids. I still have a couple of pieces left too. Deb I couldn't sit on the porch and eat it because its too cold and rainy outside..... if I save it for a week to 10 days it should finally be warm and nice enough to do that though.... wonder if it will last that long?  lol It is a low fat icecream cake for anyone that doesn't know and I was happy I asked for it.... maybe it will be an annual thing now... I hope!

Today is one of those days we had to look for things to do. I did laundry and got a bag ready to give to Good Will and Leo vacuumed the carpets and scrubed the tile. Now he is gone in the car looking for something or other.... and I am on the computer trying to peek out the window because it looks like today is the day the new neighbors will be signing the house papers and starting to move in.... finally. The house has been empty all winter. The people that used to live there come to check it out every morning and evening thouhg. I bet they won't know what to be doing with all the free time now. 
Nothing else happening around here..... we need to get out and clean off the patio of all the leaves and sticks that fell in the rain but its still raining. When I woke up this morning it was dry but by the time I got dressed it was all wet again and raining pretty hard. This is kinda like April Showers around here this May. We have been having nice weather for tulips this year though so they are still blooming and the lilies are getting tall and so are many others.... Leo is worried about the grass again.... its still growing of coarse and he can't cut it.... but he did a good job on the floors so I'm satisfyed.

Windy and rainy

I just put an entry in and it disapeared. I wonder what happened to it. Must have gotten lost in space, right? Anyway it wasn't much of anything....its been very windy and rainy all day so I didn't even venture out of the house. What I did do was the normal things one must do around the house and then I started organizing all my DVD's in a neat little container I got at QVC... It organizes them without the cases but it uses the pictures and then you just look up which one you want to watch and press the number and there is your tape. It takes up very little room without all those cases. I think I'm going to like it very much.
American Idol didn't turn out to my liking last night so I guess now I don't really care who wins. Some people are happy though so maybe I will keep watching and maybe not.... but I suppose after watching this long I won't be able to keep away. All my favorites are out of the running now so it doesn't matter anymore. At least I don't have to vote any more because I don't care, haha
Gary wanted to know what we are doing Sunday for Mothers day...... I said going to Church as usual and then maybe go and get one of those good Dairy Queen cakes in case someone wants to come over to wish me a happy day. I got a Card from my Sister in Law today..... I wonder if I have to send her one too now? That means going to the store doesn't it and in this weather just forget that. She said I was a wonderful sister in law?????? wonder why. Maybe because I take such good care of her brother..... thats all I can think of... I'm a good listener too when she calls and talks for hours... hehe  It was nice of her to send the card though.
So Now I'm going to watch House Hunters and then maybe read if there isn't anything else on tv to watch.... but I hope there is. Soon the weather is going to be nice and I will be able to sit on the porch and watch the world go by and talk to Leo..... I like summer evening sitting on the porch, Don't you?  Hope you have a nice night, Sandra

Dentist

I just got back from the dentist and have my partial in my mouth again.... they were speedy but now I have to get used to something new in my mouth.... Hope it doesn't take too long but it is strange.... I look ok so I guess that is one plus.... not great but ok. This time when he did grinding it wasn't on my tooth anyway but on the fake one and he took that out to work on it. LOL  Why is it I even get nervous going to the dentist for something like this when I just knew minutes before I was going is behond me but I'm still shaking. I guess that dentist we had as kids really did a number on me..... he would drill until it hurt and then stick a filling in the hole..... I guess I couldn't take the hurt so my teeth rotted from under the filling and eventually had to have them all replaced and that was just the beginning of my nightmares with the dentist. This one is very nice to me but he scares me to death..... and a nicer man you would never meet. Now maybe I can eat supper tonight..... First I have to make it. LOL  Oh and he told me not to bite on anything hard with that tooth ???? He said you probably wouldn't anyway... I wonder what he meant.... I suppose I will have to remember to bite on the other side or it will mean another trip to the dentist, huh?
Today was a very muggy sort of day with rain early and now Leo is cutting the grass because he heard we will get another rain tomorrow and he thinks it will be a foot high by the time it drys out.... Now he won't be worried about it. He went fishing today and caught 4 fish all different kinds so he had fun. He's going to be very tired tonight.
All I did today was the necessary house stuff and the store and dentist but I bet I will be tired too. :)It's supposed to be only in the 40's tomorrow for a high and up north they may even get snow..... I think this is the last of the cold though and it will be warming up from now on.
Wonder who is going to get kicked off American Idol tonight?

Dentist

Today I went to the dentist for what I thought was just a consultation and it ended up me getting a tooth pulled. I didn't say but I broke a tooth off the Saturday when I was with my sisters.... I was just eating a muffin and I noticed something strange in my mouth and went into the rest room to look and my tooth was gone.... well most of it anyway the rest was pulled out today in the office.... I thought it was going to be a long drawn out affair and it was over in an hour and I didn't have to go to the specialist this time.... yipee.... now I have to wait for the bleeding to stop and then when the freezing comes out hope it doesn't hurt. So far it hasn't hurt at all. But you know Iam still shaking and can hardly type.... I really really really hate going to the dentist because every time it usually means one less tooth or lots of pain some how.... I thought I was going to have to pull the rest of the top and getting false teeth but he said no and the girl said you don't want those if you can help it so I have another reprieve..... I hope. I hope they can attach the tooth on my partial ok....
But I won't get that back until Thursday or Friday so it means I won't be eating much in the meantime. Looks like mashed potatoes and applesause for me for a few days. LOL  Any better ideas? I lost 6#s so far so maybe I will lose a few more in these next days.
So its a good thing to be done on a  rainy day and you no doubt will be hearing more from me on this in the next days too. LOL

More Tulips

So far this is a very good year for flowers.... Especially the tulips. They are plentiful and lasting longer this year because the weather is cool. Well thats is why I believe they are lasting longer but I don't know why more than ever are blooming... could be the same reason but whatever it is Iam happy about it. Some years they are all spent by the time the lilacs bloom but they are together this year which makes for a beautiful and very fragrant bouquet.
I'm not doing much today... just the normal house work and laundry..... I had to do a little so I could hang something out on this beautiful sunny day as it might not be so sunny for a couple of days.

Sisters day

I added this entry before and it wouldn't enter so I hope this one does... It was a beautiful day today to get together with my sisters! We used to meet every month but its been 6 months because something always is getting in the way lately so we picked a different day and hope it works out better.I wasn't feeling well enough to go to the Garden center with them so Leo came and picked me up early ... there will be a next time I hope.... I enjoyed being with them anyway.
I didn't do much else today... hung some sheets on the line and watched the Nascar race..... My favorite driver wasn't able to finish the race but one of my next favorites won so it was ok..... :) 
It was nice to see Cathy today after that terrible fire and she is looking very well in spite of all .....
Now its late and I need to get some sleep so I can get up for Church tomorrow. Hope you have a wonderful Sunday, Sandra

Sunny day today

It was so nice to see and hold Jasmin in person.... She is a very sweet baby and loves to be rocked and she fit just perfect in my arms too. Michelle said she would bring her often so I can watch her grow.
My sister Cathy's apartment building burned the night before last and she  just got out with what she was wearing which happened to be her pajamas and robe.... I cannot imagine to be awakened at 2 am and told the place was burning and to hurry and get out... She did not get hurt but her place is distroyed and she  was given some clothes to wear before she could get to the store and get necessary stuff... So far she is doing well and is still smiling. The Red Cross got her her medicine and new glasses and her car was saved and thats it. She was given a place to stay for 3 nights and then I don't know what. She has insurance but it takes awhile to get stuff back in the new apartment that she is getting and get back to living again.... Can you imagine everything you own being gone and starting over again? I can't but I guess we do what we must somehow. 47 People are without a home today.                                 
Leo put up my new clothes lines yesterday and I got to finally use them today.... I see where I should have turned it a bit fot the picture but ..... oh well. lol My other pole broke with a vine that was growing on it last fall and we couldn't replace it in the same spot. Besides the tree was shading it and now with this little one we bought he could put it up right in the middle of the lawn... haha  It's the only place with a lot of sun and nice breeze and I was surprised when he suggested it.... Well why not, huh? I could kinda hide my unmentionables though in the other spot. But I love it anyway and the neighbor lady doesn't care where she puts hers and she leaves them hanging sometimes for 2 days. I usually take mine off as soon as they are dry.
Well, guess thats it for today. I am still getting better but its taking so long... I get out of breath kinda fast. I have decided I need to lose weight but it is a slow process. Why is it so easy for me to gain it though I wonder.

Doctor today

The dreaded doctors visit is over and now Iam wondering why I made such a big thing out of it since my Doctor is so nice and so is everyone else there.... he just wants to make me feel better and he let me know by everything he did... I'm lucky to have a nice doctor. My blood pressure is coming down.... he said it will take a little longer and he will want to check it again in a month to see for sure... He said the top number has to come down 10 points and the bottom 5 and it will be fine to stay that way.... I hope it works... since I'm taking a water pill now to along with it and potassium then to go with that.... He said my lungs are clear now too but to keep using the inhaler for awhile yet to make sure ..... also got a new pill for my nerves or depression.... just a small dosage to see if I can get to be my old happy self again.... So it was a good visit and I am looking forward to Happy Days ahead.
We are getting a little sun today and a little warmer. the flowers are getting bigger and the tulips are blooming now. I got a rose to put in my new planter today but need to get some dirt.... and dog and cat food so it looks like another trip to the store. I don't want to go alone so have to wait for Leo and he is fixing up some fishing poles so it looks like tomorrow...
I will try and get some pictures and put them in later as long as I really don't have anything else to do today.... Wish Leo would put my clothes lines up but he will in his own time if I don't nag. LOL

a few pictures

It seems our First Communion days were all in rather cold Spring weather.... I guess it was always on Easter Sunday or close to it.
  I only came in long enough to put in a few pictures and now I have to go get some work done before the race starts. It was rained out yesterday and who knows it might be rained out again today. Seems like its raining all over the world lately.. (remember that BJ Thomas song) lol
Oh and no I didn't go to the First Communion yesterday... Just wasn't feeling good and when I thought about going I got so nervous my heart started pounding so I stayed home. It's a shame but evreyone got along just fine without me. :) I'm going to see the doctor tomorrow and I hope he fixes me up or tells me Iam just fine.... I will let you know.

Carley

My Grandaughter, Carley made her First Holy Communion today. It was a grand occasion but we are having a rainy day.... all day. It seems all the churches picked today to have First Communion too bad about the rain. It reminds me of our wedding day when it rained and rained all day ..... if things go according it should be a nice sunny day tomorrow.... It was nice never the less.
I want to watch the race now but it seems its raining in Alabama where the race is too.... so I guess its time to finish reading a book I started a few weeks ago. Hope you are having a nice day, Sandra

Dandelions

After Leo spent a good part of his day digging out dandelions the little neighbor girls came over with a bouquet of dandelions for us.... They are pretty and I'm sure the girls were pleased that they could bring us such a nice present .... So I put them in a vase and will just have to refrain from breathng when I go near them as I'm allergic to them. LOL
Leo and I had a good time laughing when we were alone in the house. It was a beautiful present we thought!

Another beautiful day

How is everyone today? Very Very good I hope. I am starting to feel a little better every day and am looking forward to the day when I have forgetten I was feeling bad to begin with. I think I have a tendency to make a mountain out of a molehill but I got so scared and then my blood pressure went up etc..... Tues is the day I will see my doctor and he will tell me Iam just fine and to get on with my life...... :>)
   Leo is cutting the grass again today after digging out the dandelions ..... he is a fanatic about his lawn in the spring even if he is having trouble with allergies.... He loves looking at his green grass. Me I like looking at my flowers but the grass always makes them look better too so its fine with me that he wants to keep it up. I would never be able to do it as good as he does.
I have just been doing my laundry today and the usual things around the house. haven't a clue about supper but maybe it will be that new Asian chicken salad at Mc Donalds... :)Gary will have his pizza so that leaves Leo.... we will have to figure that one out I guess. I wish he could just eat a hamburger or something but he can't swallow things like that. We will think of something good.

JasminMarie

Here is the first picture of Jasmin Marie.... I can hardly wait to see her and hold her but that will have to wait a bit yet.... She is doing well and I hear she is eating very good... she looks rather chubby doesn't she. I'm so happy my Son has a digital camera.. It sure wasn't like that when our kids were born.... Everyone is doing fine now and my son said he is so happy he was there for the birth. Now I wonder if he will be able to drag himself away to go fishing this week end.
My Grandaughter is making her First Communion this week end and I don't know yet if I will feel good enough to go.... But my other son bought a new camera and said he will take a lot of pictures.... I know not the same but thats ok.... I get nervous in crowds anyway and I won't be missed because there will be enough others there to be with her. Right now I just want to feel better and have a nice happy summer. I think I will wait until after I see the doctor on Tuesday to go anywhere .... if I can stand it. I can go out in the sun and water my flowers and do small jobs around the house and thats fine with me..... just until I am all better anyway, Oh and Iam losing the weight I have been trying to lose too.... just hope that continues when I get well.

Getting better

Today I took my blood pressure and it was way too high so Leo took me to the doctor where it was even higher so I was told to wait and they got a new cuff and then it was lower.... I made an appointment to see the doctor next Tuesday to get my medication straightened out.... should be done taking the medicine for Bronchitis by then and feeling better too. I was so nervous when I saw how high my pressure was but am now feeling better because the doctor seems to think what I am taking will be just fine until Tuesday. I will try my best to stay relaxed until then.
My Son's step daughter is in the hospital right now having her baby. I sure hope its all going well. She will be so happy to have that over with I bet.... she still has a year of high school to go and then College... I hope. I can't wait to see the little one though I will have to wait until I get better as I sure don't want anyone to get sick. My son is sure happy she is Having her today because his big fishing trip is coming up this week end.... His big event of the year and it's just a good thing he didn't have to make a choice. When he was here yesterday I told him what his choice had to be but he wasn't listening.... I tried though.
I will put a picture in as soon as I get one....I'm sure he has his camera but he may get too nervous and forget to use it. He has never had any babies of his own so I don't know how he is going to act..... It will be fun to find out... Just hope everything is going ok.

Baby Jasmine Marie was born at 4:30 this afternoon and she is healthy and weighs  7#'s and is 19 inches long.... Dan didn't get to a computer yet to send the pictures. :)  He is so oooo excited. So maybe it will be tomorrow. My Daughters are going to go to the hospital though and Shari will take some pictures so I may get those first. I can't go because I'm sick...... Now I have to hurry and get better so I can hold the little one.

Up Date

Good morning... well almost afternoon. I 'm just coming in to let you know I went to the doctor yesterday and found out I have Bronchitis and am taking medicine for it and I also found out my potassium is low so more pills and a water pill and an inhaler... I hope to be better soon.... should be by the end of the week .... thats when the pills are gone... :) so I'm crossing my fingers and hoping for the best.

The rose is one from last year. I have a lot of flowers in bloom today but haven't taken a picture.... I feel a little weak so am just laying around the house and doing easy stuff like dishes and picking up and taking care of the dogs and cat etc... I don't like laying around because it makes me think of myself too much and I make a mountain out of a molehill that way. Maybe I should watch a movie.  I bet a lot of you would like to have my problem.... well not the sick part I guess but the laying around and doing nothing part.....
Its supposed to be a sunny day today but here it is minutes from noon and I think its just starting to peek through.... Sun always helps doesn't it.... I will find something to do and as soon as Iam better I will have lots of fun stuff to do  and maybe I will even start a new hobby ..... hows that for positive thinking. Take care, Sandra

Sunny and warmer

Today is a nice sunny day but I have a terrible cold. I was up every 15 min to half hour all night because of coughing.... My ribs are aching today but being up now I don't cough as much or it doesn't seem like it because I 'm not being awakened... I suppose it must have something to do with the weather and all the trees are budding out etc etc..... I hope tonight is better.
So I'm not doing very much today, Mostly laying around the house. I did start supper though in the slow cooker so we will eat tonight. Last night Leo went to Dairy Queen and got hamburgers etc...I was just not able to get myself into the kitchen to make a meal. I think I will now go and check the supper and sit and read for awhile. Leo went fishing again today and got home and had to wash his van... it seems the birds fly over where he parks and left many many white spots.. haha.... shame on them.
I hope your day is better than mine but I'm sure I will get better soon. Take care, Sandra

Sunny Tuesday

I haven't much for today because I haven't been feeling very well... Not too bad but you know a stuffed chest and raspy throat and just feel like laying around. I did a few little things in the yard today and now its almost time to make supper already. I think the time is going fast because I did take a little nap while Leo was fishing... It was nice and quiet in the house and not feeling well and all I figured I might as well. There is still a chill in the air even if the sun is shinning. I guess it will be all week but it's not winter and for that Iam very grateful!
Hope its nice and warm where you are or if you are here hope you are enjoying the sun.... Aren't those Primroses pretty? They make me sooooo happy!!!!!!

One of those days

So now that Easter is already gone and Leo is getting better I have a scratchy throat and a tight chest and am shivering.... Maybe I am just tired and not getting Leo's cold.... I'm crossing my fingers and drinking orange tea with vitimin c.... it will help that and enough rest. I only slept 6 hours last night and I should have 7 or 8 so I think that is my problem... I will try to catch it in the bud.
Had to put a picture in of me wearing my Easter sweater... :) A lady came up to me at church and told me she loved my Easter sweater...lol It was nice of her but now it will always be my Easter sweater won't it.... We sat in the last row because Leo was afraid he would cough.... He didn't though... because he had some cough medicine before.
We have been having trouble with our spare bathroom toilet for the last week or so... we bought all kinds of things and it would seem to be working and then wasn't again... well our son in law came over today and took it off and there was a wad of paper toweling stuck in there.... I can't see how any water got down but it did. funny... then we got a new seal and now its as good as new. I was afraid someone would come over and use it.... how imbarassing that would be but not to fear it is all fixed and we didn't even have to call a plumber.... Interesting story , huh   LOL  Well that is about the best I can do for today. I was outside cutting back a  few roses and already had to dead head some of the flowers that were in bloom .... also had to water because it is so sunny and windy in front and the new bulbs and seeds we planted are drying out pretty bad.... Rain is coming though. I wish it would now get just a little warmer or maybe its me not feeling well that is making me shiver.... who knows. Anyway I plan on getting a good nights sleep and feel better in the morning... by the way I'm using the picture as my "before" picture... I start my diet every day and one of these days it will take. Easter Sunday

We had a beautiful Mass today with lovely singing and then we went to brunch and had a nice family time. We didn't get to go to the zoo because it got cloudy and windy and a little cold but I would have been game to get my winter jacket on and go anyway. Leo has been sick though so we really couldn't go. I 'm just happy he made it to Mass and dinner after. He has been achey and feverish and coughing for the last couple of days and it got him right down in bed yesterday all day and thats not at all like him.... so I hope he gets all better soon and we get to go to the zoo and take some pictures.... We sat way in back of church today so if he coughed he could just leave and wouldn't cough on anyone but he had taken some cough medicine so he didn't.... he came home and went to bed and now he is up and eating supper.... chicken soup and hard boiled eggs... :)

Easter Time

I thought I would wish everyone a Happy Easter too even though it is just Good Friday today.... Some may be going to spend the day away so I'm early. Not sure yet what we will be doing. We will go to brunch at Rock Garden after church I know that much and hard telling what we decide to do after. It would be nice to go to the zoo I think ..... we shall see. I will have my camera ready no matter what we decide to do. I will be seeing my Great Grandaughters and I haven't seen them since Christmas I think it was.... I bet they are getting big. I have seen pictures but its not the same as actually seeing them... They are both so much fun and so full of life it makes me happy to just be in the same room.... So I am looking forward to Easter.
Today I decided to go for a walk around the block as I haven't been walking all winter and I got tired out... of coarse there is a hill coming back so that is my excuse but I want to get so It's easy again.... I am not in good shape... Maybe I can lose a few pounds too. I always have so much trouble with that... wish my mind would make it easier for me.... starting today.... (I always start but can't always continue) I hope and pray I can lose a few and get healthier. Sometimes I feel like an old woman already... I'm getting there but I know I don't have to be this out of shape so I'm back to the grindstone again for the 10,000th time. wish me luck yet again please. :)

Warm day

Today I had to mail some card and get some stamps and stop at Wal Mart for a few things..... Easter basket stuff. :) I saw these beautiful plants and the price was so reasonable I had to get some..... I stopped with 2.... good for me, huh? I could have gotten a lot more but saved them for some other people.. :)
It rained all morning but this afternoon the sun is shinning and it is warm. I wore a jacket to Wal mart and got really warm... Amazing.
After I came home I went out and putzed around with some flowers... my honeysuckle vine is budding out really nice. I didn't know if it would come back as I just planted it last year and it didn't do much... this may be a better year I think. There aren't too many weeds yet but I should go and get some of the grass that is growing in the flower beds.... I should....... and maybe I will....... tomorrow. :)

Windows and doors

I say I'm loopy because the weather is making my head funny.. Does anyone else have my problem with the changing of the seasons? Seems every Spring and Winter it takes me a week or more to get my head right again... seems like there is extra air or something in there and my ears feel plugged... Does that mean I'm an air head I wonder. LOL Last night I had such a headache I had to go to bed really really early...darn I hate that.
So today I was determined to get something done regardless. I did some mending for my son Tom and then Washed the living room windows inside and out and the doors too. Then I did all the tv screens and computer screen.... so now I have a nice start on the windows. I hate doing them all in one day like Leo does. He never did the windows when he was working so I have to be there when he does them because he puts them in wrong and then swears because they don't fit right.... he blames the windows... hahaha.
He just came home from fishing and had his breakfast and now he is sleeping..... what a life. When he gets up he will probably want to do something if its not raining... I hope I can talk him into fixing my clothes lines but I don't think so... at least I will remind him so some day I will have them again...The trouble there is I'm afraid he will kill my plants while he is doing it.... maybe we can come up with a new solution. I hope.
So now I have to go because my headache is coming back again..... Oh and I also have a sore throat..... could it all be the change in the weather?  I think so.

My Flowers

I saw a pretty little butterfly outside today~ it was probably a moth though it looked like a monark butterfly but was much smaller. Sooooo I went to get my camera and it would not let me take a picture so as long as I had my camera I decided to take pictures of the flowers in my front yard... in another day or two I will have more daffodils and jonquils in bloom so I waited to take those. Hope you enjoy my flowers ~ I sure do.
Oh and by the way I convinced Leo to do a little back yard raking instead of our windows.... My sister, Angel says she waits until the April showers have ended... that sounds right to me. :)  Hope you are still enjoying the lovely spring day, Sandra

beautiful sunny warm day

It's such a beautiful day today that it's hard to stay inside..... so I didn't. Leo left very early to go fishing... we were going to do the windows but the fish were calling him. :) Thats just fine because I found a lot of more fun things to do... First I put the rest of the patio furniture out on the patio. We got a nice box Saturday to put the cushions in so that is great.... no more running back and forth if it rains to bring the cushions in. And the family room won't be so cluttered in a rain. They all fit just perfect. I have 4 chairs and a setee and a footstool that all have cushions and they all fit with room to spare... I will probably be able to put the grill cover in there too. Then I watched Joan Rivers on QVC and bought a pretty pin, after that I had to go outside again and I cut back 2 rose bushes that don't really matter but they look bad so I cleaned them up and then remembered I got some buttercups that can be planted now.... such strange looking tubers. I planted 60. This is the second try for me. None of the first ones came up but the company sent me more so I figured I should try harder to plant them. That was last year..... I planted some in the ground and some in a planter. I planted them all  in pots last time but we got a lot of rain after and maybe they just got waterlogged or something.... I sure hope they grow this time.... it said it would take 5 or 6 weeks for them to sprout.... that seems like such a long time doesn't it? It said they like cool weather and sun, so I wonder what that means. It has to be above freezing to plant them... I say it will be above freezing from now on at night.... if not I can bring the pot into the garage so we shall see....
Then the lady next door was coming home and I went over there to help her bring her groceries into the house.... she has such a hard time walking, so I did a good deed for today... and it felt good.
So now its already noon so there is still time to wash some windows.... but I'm not going to do it. I washed a mirror and the patio doors so I figured thats enough. Hope Leo doesn't come home still planning on doing it. Oh and he put another of my bird houses out in front yesterday... it looks pretty. I want 3 together to make a little statement.... I saw it in a book and I loved the way it looked.

I took some Pictures Tonight

After supper and dishes being done I decided to look around the yard before it got dark. It nice that it stays lite after supper again isn't it? I was pleasantly surprised to see the Daffodils and some tulips in bloom already. It got to 60 today and the sun came out so I guess the flowers wanted to join in also. Now its supposed to go down to 26 or so tonight but after tomorrow night the forecast says it will get warmer like today and stay that way too. Leo will be cutting the Lawn before he wants too this year I'm afraid. He shouldn't have been in such a hurry to fertilize and clean up maybe. he still has to clean up the back grass but the fish are calling his name and that's where he is tonight. Yesterday Gary got finished working early so they went to play golf at Village Green and then he went fishing last night.... I didn't have to cook but then I don't eat as well either I guess. The Walleye are starting to bite already so I won't be seeing much of him. Maybe that's why I have been feeling nervous lately. I don't like to have him gone I guess..... but it was probably just what I ate ..... I always make a mountain out of a mole hill ....... well not all the time but I don't like changes and it's the season for changes. I will get used to it again this year and enjoy again.... Thursday

It's been awhile since I have written ... guess there isn't all that much to say. I have been reading all the journals and commenting on some when I felt something to say but not much in the mood to write myself lately... Don't know why.... I seem to be waiting for something... warm weather and sunshine I guess. In the meantime the flowers are blooming in front and some around the yard where the sun shines. I have some beautiful crocus and hyacenth and the little scillia and others too. but but but.... I don't see them except for a brief time because I can't sit on the porch much ..... still have to wear a winter coat if I do.....
For some reason I feel nervous today and last night.... don't know why.... my body seems to be telling me I feed it too much..... everywhere you turn you find out what you are eating or drinking is not good for you.... Iam going to start blocking my ears when I hear that and just listen to how I feel after I eat to know what is good and what isn't. I can't drink regular coffee so am drinking one or two cups of decaf coffee a day and now I hear that is why I'm fat....... is this right? So I start drinking iced tea but can't have artificial sweetner so I have sugar or honey in it..... can't have much of that either so I drink more water and get up a hundred times it seems in the middle of the night ..... and that is just what I drink.... now go to food and it starts all over again.... I just saw on aol a "new" diet..... only eat food without labels.... all wholesome food but cereal has labels and I imagine all cereal has labels..... so I guess that means no cereal too.... so maybe I will have some eggs..... oops I bet there is a label there too.... Maybe a potato for breakfast???? can't have milk or juice or yogurt as they all have labels. so this will be another diet that I won't go on but will cause some time of stress wondering what about it is good. After all it is a doctor that thought this one up. Of coarse to find out more you must buy the book. I have enough diet books to start a store. maybe if I threw them all away it would be the best for me.
So that is where my mind has been going lately and why I'm going crazy..... :>)
I think I will go now and do some laundry..... at least that is a bit of exercise.  Yesterday I went to Wal Mart again to get 2 more big plants for the patio.. they didn't have the one I wanted but they had one like I got the other day and another called a Chinese fan palm... When I was putting it in the car a lady came by and said that it was a great plant and she has one and it got really really big. I wonder what mine will do. I'm putting it outside for the summer so it will probably get big too.... It will be fun and if it gets too big I can always cut it way back for the winter. I have to repot them into a nice pot though.... I have the pot and the dirt but I will do that out on the lawn so I don't make a mess... It will be a big job.... but good exercise. :)
Tomorrow is supposed to be colder and then it should start warming up..... at least according to the 15 day forcast.

Fun day

I had a nice morning today! My daughter, Shari called and asked if I wanted to go to the craft fair at our church with her.... I guess I was in the mood because I sure bought a lot of things didn't I? Sometimes I go and can't find a thing but today I was in the mood for buying.... I was looking for a bird house and found 2 and thought something to brighten up the front porch would be nice and found 2 .... well it was just too much for the front porch but the little spray I got works just perfect for the fireplace brick I think... then we went to a craft store where I found the little plaque the says " Dance as if no one was watching" well I had to have it.... and the little bird house that is sitting there too. It will soon be put out into the yard though as soon as we get the posts finished. Maybe we will have a rainy day soon and Leo will do the posts. I also got a braided rug for the bathroom. The one I have says on it you can only spot clean so I figured soon I would be needing a new one and the braided one was so nice. I have been having trouble with rugs lately. I went to shake one out and the binding came off and now the  one  in there can't be put into the washing machine. I noticed after I bought it.. I had a braided rug in storage  and put it on the floor in the other bathroom and it was the perfect color and size for in there and it still looks new and I know I washed it many many times so I will be going with the braided rugs for awhile.... they make them in so many pretty colors too. the man said he would take $5 off and I didn't even ask him.... Anyway I have been having a very nice day. Spring must have finally sprung for me, ya think?
I'm reading a good book now too so I guess I will go and watch the race and do a little reading too. the name of the book is "The Mermaid Chair" by Sue Monk Kidd.... the author of " The Secret Life of Bees" in case you read that one.... So far its keeping my interest.
Hope you are having a fun April fools day too.... daylight savings starts tonight..... but now days I can catch up on the hours lost sleep anytime I guess. The window in my bedroom is always open and the birds have been waking me up earlier lately anyway... :)
