Beautiful day for yard work

I had fun working in the yard today. It was a sweater kind of day with the sun shinning. I found the burlap to cover my roses etc and then I found a few other things to do for an hour or two and it was still nice so I decided to look at the Christmas tree I bought for the yard the other day to see if I could put it together without any help..... I did it but I have an extra piece it said nothing about in the directions and can't for the life of me figure out where it goes. Don't you just hate that. I wonder if they do that on purpose or something? Anyway you can see it turned out just fine so I'm happy but a little frustrated. Leo put the icicle lights on the house today too and a neighbor came by and asked him if it wasn't just a  little early....... but you never know what the weather is going to be like and its better to do on a warm sunny day. He is still going to put lights on the 2 evergreens in the front. We won't be turning them on yet but you know what? A neighbor through the back has her tree up and she is keeping the lights lit too. She is always the first ~ she just loves Christmas and then after they leave for warmer weather in the south for awhile.

So I guess I have to think about Thanksgiving soon. I have always been the one to make a big meal and it got to be for 22 or 23 and last year I just didn't feel up to it and noone invited us so I don't think I will do it for everyone anymore. I'm getting too old for that and I get so tired and such a backache that I certainly don't enjoy the day  so maybe we will go to a nice restaurant this year.... what do you think?  Its a hard decision and it was always so nice when we all got together, I really miss that but aparantly the kids don't so I will let it be. Leo can't eat sweets and certain other food so it may be best to go out and he can choose what he wants and we won't have left overs to throw in the garbage. I hope all your familys still get together and have a happy time, just remember to help out the person who is cooking it all.... at least bring something and help clear off the table.  :)

I know there are restaurants that cater to families and even wrap up the leftovers. Ask around and maybe your family would like to meet in a restaurant this year. Hey, you and Leo can always come to the hospital and have Thanksgiving dinner with me. They have ham, turkey, shrimp, cheesburgers, a few kinds of potatoes, several salads and desserts. It's kind of fun actually. I usually get the shrimp or cheeseburger as the turkey is the pressed with water kind.

That tree is very pretty, I've never seen one like that. Everyone around here is putting up their lights and outside decorations. Some of them are lit tonight and some not, it looks real pretty. I just have the Grinch to put up and it blows up by itself when you plug it in so I don't have much decorating to do. Oh and I did get a Bart Simpson that dances and sings Christmas songs to go along with it too.

Thanksgiving used to be my favorite holiday. Since I was first married I always hosted it. Sadly people died off and our group grew smaller and smaller. Now my daughter spends the day with her fiance's family and it's just 4 of us now. I told my husband when his mother passes the 3 remaining of us will start a new tradition of going to a restaurant. I think it's the perfect solution for just a few people.
