Warm Summer day

I guess its time I wrote in my journal again... I have been kinda busy but not too busy.... just lazy maybe.   Saturday I went to a wedding shower for my niece so that took up most of Saturday even though it only lasted a couple of hours.... I couldn't take my car because it was making a funny noise and I would have to go down an 8 mile stretch without houses or many cars.... kinda woodsy and didn't want to take a chance... so Leo brought me and picked me up. It was a nice shower with lots of yummy stuff to eat (and I love to eat)
Leo went to the car dealer this morning to talk about getting it fixed and since he is going he decided to have everything checked and flushed and tires rotated and spark plugs changed~ going to cost a fortune but since I like my car and it only has 33,000 miles on it since I got it in 96 we decided to get the works.... for piece of mind so tomorrow it will be in the shop all day.
Yesterday after church we went to a couple of stores, I got 2 nice books at Barnes and Noble. One is a Novel by Nicholas Sparks.... Bill Clintons book is too long so I wanted to take some time out from that one and then I found a little gardening month by month book that I also can write in( for Minn. and Wisconsin gardeners), and then came home and watched the race with Gary and Rick also came over... Leo was watching golf. I think Racing is more exciting though. I am in a fantasy league with Leo so we do discuss golf quite a bit too. And for good measure he asks me if anyone got into an accident or fight lately. lol.
Today we went to the garden store and I bought a few little flowers to replace a couple I killed by too much kindness and also got another tomato plant while I was there as they were on sale.... not a great big one but hopefully I will get some tomatoes yet this year before the frost comes    ;>)
Oh, I almost forgot to tell you about the picture.... It is the poppies I am always talking about and sharing with everyone... I got some seeds from my neighbor who got some from a friend and we have been sharing them every year since.... so easy to grow. The flowers turn to a big seed head and if you don't save the seed it just seeds itself in the same spot and then you will have to pull some out to thin them ( an easy thing to do) You don't even have to plant them but just sow the seed where you want it to grow either in the fall or if you forget early spring asI have done both and both work fine. some are very big and some are smaller and dainty and both are beautiful I think... some area pale pink and some are almost red.... I didn't get too many red though ~ must have given those away I guess. I will have to ask my daughter for some of her red seed I think or else I may have pulled the red ones out.... ;>)
Hope your gardens are growing nice and pretty too.
Sandra

Yes, Bill Clinton's book is long. Taking a break and reading Hillary's. Will go back to Bill's another day. : )

I am going to have to keep up with your journal so I can see all these pics of your beautiful garden. I wish I had the time and space for a garden of my own...someday! Beautiful picture.

How lovely.  I would love to have some of those planted around.  Do they require full sun?

Your Poppies are gorgeous.  I love that pink.  I don't think I've ever seen that color, only the red and yellow.  I like this pink best.  I'm going to get some seeds to sprinkle in the fall and see what happens next spring.  I loved your sitting on the porch entry below.  Yes, I would love to sit on the porch with you and chat.  I don't have a porch on this house and I really miss it.

Sandra,
I always enjoy your journal and beautiful pictures!  I love to garden too, but your thumb is quite a bit greener than mine, I must say.  You must share some secrets with me!  I just bought a load of new perennials and have worked like a fool to get them all planted.  What a job!  I'm hoping next year they will be doubled in size.  I'd love to come sit on your porch and chat!  Wouldn't that be fun?  I'll bring something yummy to eat............:)
