Turkey
Thanksgiving meal is finished.... I decided I don't even like turkey. That must be the reason I don't like making the dinner for everyone anymore. This year I got this small turkey, about half the size I usually get and it was dry and tasted like it was wild turkey, blah. I used to get it at my neighborhood store and that is gone so I tried a different brand and I did not like it one bit. I had it in the oven for over 7 hours at 350 and that should have been enough for 11 #'s but it tasted tough and not moist even if there were plenty of juices at the bottom. but I did find something that worked like a charm if I should evera want to make or have to make a turkey again. you put large whole carrots on the bottom instead of a rack and its much easier getting it out of the pan and no rack to clean. I alwo found out I love pumpkin fluff. :) so it wasn't all bad and we have a nice looking pumpkin pie I made just waiting for a plate and whipped cream. So I guess it wasn't all bad. I also found out we like cresent rolls from Pillsbury too, and I got a great buy on some nice jumbo olives. But the turkey :( I had to wash my hands several times to get the smell off. I hope you had a good turkey or whatever you like for Thanksgiving. I think Iam turning more and more into a vegetarian. Probably a good homemade bowl of chicken vegetable soup and crackers with pumpkin pie would have suited me better. hahaha

I'm with you, Sandra. We don't like turkey here either. We had a nice big oven stuffer with all the fixin's and we really liked that. Enjoy the rest of your day.

Dear sister I believe you cooked it way too long and too high a temperature. Should have been about three hours at 325. But I'm with you anyway, I don't especially like turkey either. Last you I just made stuffing. This year I had guests so the smell of cooked turkey is permeating the walls. Next year Jenny said we should have pizza.
I vote for the soup and pie too! LOL we're supposed to have turkey but I don't like it either. I say we start a new tradition!
