We got a little more snow last night.... Now we are hoping for another nice day so the streets melt again. Yesterday I went to the drug store and the streets were all nice and cleared already... must have been the salt as it was only around 30 at the highest I guess. It was a nice day but I don't see any snowmen around here yet. I wish someone around here besides me would try and make one... I love snowmen don't you? When the kids were all home we always had a snowman if the snow was packy... sure do miss those days.
I finally got all my presents wrapped yesterday. Now I should put the ornaments on the tree this week end I suppose... I'm not going to go all out but I will get it done. I put everything in the same big box last year so that will be easy. Glad I did that. I have so many boxes of decorations I will not use this year.... I have enough for 3 houses I bet... One of these days I will go through them and see what I can give away... so many memories though that they are hard to part with.... Maybe I will keep just enough for 2 houses instead of 3...
Hope everyone is having a nice day today and will have a great week end, Sandra
CHRISTMAS ANGEL
Half of me wants to throw away
This angel with damaged wings,
Stored in the attic at Yuletide's end
With leftover Christmas things.
Half of me sees that the gold on her robe
Is tarnished beyond repair,
And obviously the sheen is gone
From her halo-crowned, golden hair.
But half of me treasures the memories
That crowd as I hold her near,
Memories of all the joys she has seen
From her treetop year after year.
So I climb the ladder and put her there
In what is her rightful place,
Forgetting th einjuries the years
have brought-----
She still has her angel face.
Though the glow she once had
Through the years may depart,
She retains, as always,
Her hold on the heart.

Hi Sandra,
We have so many decorations to give away also and quite a few things I should just throw away. We have the trees up but now it's on to the task of wrapping for three children. Always nice stopping by your journal. Enjoyed the poem and what a nice holiday background. No snow down here and am finally able to accept the weather here though I sure do miss the snow this time of year. Hugs,
Lisa
I love the angel poem. I too have those treasures in the attic that I haven't managed to give or throw away! Ditto on the weather here except we haven't seen 30 degrees in a long time !
Take good care - Keep warm ! 'On Ya' - ma
What a lovely poem, that's how I feel too. You know, everyone says get rid of the clutter, but I don't know, it makes me feel warm inside and it's not in anyones way.
I love your snow pics. Oh, and YES I would love to live in that house. It really looks nice.
I love snowmen too. Three years ago I was able to make a snowman. Yep, here in Georgia. LOL it was only about 12" high. LOL
It's hard to get at the tree when you have other things on your mind; but I think once it's all decorated and you're sitting in your easy chair you will really enjoy it. I liked the poem too; it's amazing how a simple ornament from years back can bring so many nice memories. I always put one on that Dave made in lst grade, and this year I can't find it. It's got to be around here somewhere.
I haven't seen any snowmen yet either. I like all your snowman pictures.
One idea for the extra ornaments and Christmas decorations (if you can part with them).......have your kids come over and take turns picking. That's what I did last week with all the knitted scarves and mittens I have, and I'm going to do it with my Christmas stuff too. They really have fun. Kind of like we did with mom's stuff.
