Its a beautiful day today! Breezy and 80 with the sun shinning. Pretty good since the weather man said we were supposed to get rain.
I'm lazy today though and just sitting around after church. We did go shopping though( seems that is a Sunday kind of thing for us) Leo got a nice pair of pants and a shirt... He thought it was on sale really really cheap but when he went to the check out counter he found out they put them in the wrong spot.... He got them anyway and finally got a nice pair of pants that fit him just perfect. And a beautiful shirt to match.... I really don't need any clothes because I buy too many on QVC so I mostly looked around. I did get a fall mock neck long sleeve shirt though to wear under a sweater I just got. A muted orange with shaded pumpkins on it.... Got it in a big size because I feel fat today, lol Oh, I also got a cute straw hat for only $5 so I can sit outside and read and shade the sun... or for working outside too. The one I have is way too hot and last time I was really perspiring, they had them on sale plus another 50% off.... So we had fun and then came home to water my plants and watch the races, golf, and olympics.... I wonder what I will do when they are over... We waited so long for them to start and now they are almost over... Seeing those athletics in such good shape makes me want to try to get into a little better shape.... I'm in awe of them.
Oh, this is a picture of what is now taking over the front yard after all the other plants are finished.... I call them Moon flowers and the pink are Spider plants. I'm sure they must have fancier names but that is what I always called them.... they came up on their own from seeds of plants I had last year. I took the picture at night with a flash because after all they are moon flowers and are open and at their best at night or on cool mornings.
Hope you are having a nice day too, Sandra

The Moon flowers sure are pretty. Do they have a scent?
They have a little scent but nothing to brag about... Of coarse my smeller isn't working the best so I really don't know... I will ask my daughter when she comes next time, lol
Sandra,
Those white trumpet flowers are just beautiful! I would love it if you could mail some of the seed pods to me. We had a house up in Ohio that had them and they had this beautiful lemon scent. My husband and I would go outside and just smell those flowers and we noticed they would especially start blooming when the moon got really full. Of course we had them for years.
We ended up leaving there to move to Florida because the economy got so hard on my husband's small but steady landscaping business. I really regret that I didn't bring some of those seed pods with us- ha ha, but we were in an apartment for almost 2 years until about 6 months ago when we found this house to rent with a future option to buy. Perfect for us since we aren't ready to buy.
We had select clients who really were hit during 911 and they all lost fortunes that year. So we packed up and moved here where we could be near the big city of Orlando for jobs... we ended up moving north in the outskirts of the greater Orlando area... and have settled quite nicely now and recovered somewhat from our losses since then. Gets better everyday. We would just love it if you could mail us a bunch of those seed pods. I just miss those flowers. Don't know what they are called. We called them white trumpet flowers and even took some to plant at our church. Let me know if you have some extra seed pods... they are hardy as I recall and giant... really for pods... so I think they'd make it ok thru the mail?
The seed pods aren't ready yet but if I get some that mature before we get frost I would be happy to send you some.... just send me your address. I wonder how they will do in Florida without the cold though. Maybe you would have to put them in your refrigerator for about 6 weeks before planting.... I don't know.
