Waiting for Spring
I'm not feeling too good today but I went out and did some work in the yard anyway. I thought it might help me feel better. I sawed some branches off the pine trees way in back to neaten them up and get that area looking better. Big job and now Im tired and ready to relax, ;) I always think I'm stronger than I am at this time of year. Forgetting it takes awhile to get into shape after a long lazy winter. I will take it slower from now on..... well I will try. It's a nice sunny day and I needed to get some fresh air.
Twinkie full sized
I thought about it again for awhile and went back and figured it out.... got most of the pictures deleted and now I can start over. I'm sure the reason I was having so much trouble was because I didn't resize the pictures small enough.... I love taking pictures and adding them but I was really getting frustrated.... something like when I first got my computer many years ago and didn't know anything about it....I sure hope once I learn this camera it will last a long long time. ;) Thanks again!

Poem
This is a poem my Mother sent me for my birthday 11 years ago and I still treasure it, it was found in the Good Housekeeping magazine and written by Dorothy Moffatt:
ALL I NEED
All I need
To make good my lot
Is a seed to take flower
and a garden plot,
Water and sun
and a hand to lend
A little help
when my back won't bend,
Someone to praise,
someone to care
About the flowers
growing there.
This is enough--
Pleasant hours to spend,
Some sun and a plot,
a flower and a friend.

more pictures
I'm just having a good time taking pictures today and seeing what my new camera can do .... really trying to figure out how to make them the right size too
My snow has melted!
Its anouther cloudy day but the snow in my backyard is gone.... with our help because we kept shoveling the top off and throwing it on the cement patio... But the neighbors is almost gone too.
I bought myself a new toy ~ ordered it on QVC (naturally) Its a lawn mower, one that doesn't need gas to go. My husband has one like in the picture plus another one to do the edges... we have a small yard too. I will have the lawn cut with my little push mobile before he gets his out and all gased and oiled I bet. He is trying to figure out what could be wrong with the one I ordered and he only could come up with but it doesn't have a grass catcher. He is right.... maybe I can find one somewhere that will fit it (he thinks I can) I have been wanting this for a few years now and decided to go for it since it was on easy pay and all. I won't have to plug it in or gas it up ever. No recharge of batteries either. It should bring back the good old days (maybe) I forgot if there is anything bad about this type of mower but I will remember I bet as soon as I start using it. What a fun summer this will be and I will get my exercise too.

another cold
I just came in from taking a picture of my first crocus in bloom. I guess Spring has arrived even though the snow in the back has not all melted yet and The dirt in the pots is still frozen. It won't be too much longer though because its over 60 already and it actually feels warm. Too bad the sun isn't shinning. I puttered in the yard even though Im not feeling good.... maybe that will make me feel better, who knows. I put the patio table out on the patio and brought 2 chairs up from the basement ~~~ just in case. I also picked up a few little branches that were in the lawn and garden and took as many of the branches as I could out of the pots.... some are still frozen in but I will get them all tomorrow now Im sure. I even peeked under the covers I have over the rose bushes and the bushes are all green under there. I guess I better take it easy there though. I will gradually give them more and more air until I can take them off for good. I had better not get too anxious as this is still March after all.... I remember last year it got really warm and then we got freezing again and it killed a lot of my plants. Hope it comes slower this year. (not too slow though, LOL)

New Plants
Yesterday, one of my sisters told me about Wal Mart selling yellow lilac bushes and I had to go there first thing this morning and get me one! Its just a tiny bush as lilacs go but that way more things will fit in my yard :) I will put a stake by it so I make sure I don't forget what is growing there. It will probably take me 3 years of so before I get any blossoms but think how happy I will be when it does grow nice and blossom for me. The Nikko Blue Hydrangea's are a nice size to start with too. The price was right at $4.88 each and they are nice and healthy. I put them all in pots I have and watered them etc and put them on the porch. I will take them into the garage every night and sometime probably the end of April I will plant them.
I also puttered aroung the yard a little and cleaned up around the day lilies... they are starting to come up now too. so wonderful to see the green peeking through the earth again. Of coarse this is only close to the house and in the sun that I'm really picking and cleaning up a very little... It will still get cold I think so I will be careful.
This was on my calendar today and I thought I would share it:

quiet day
I didn't do much else today then except clean up the house and straighten up a few things with my medication and bills etc. Now with a little luck the rest of the week end should be good. I may even check out the craft sale at our church and see what I can find there to make me happy. It was nice out for a little while today and melted most of the snow we got yesterday and now its windy and drying up all the puddles. I think I will just go and do a bit of reading now. I hope everyone is having a nice day.

Camera's
I tried to get my camera fixed here in town but it had to be sent in and no guarantee on how much it would cost etc so I decided to look at new ones... I looked for 3 days and finally found one I like. Its not one of the tiny ones I can fit in my purse though as it has a pretty good sized zoom lens on it. I wanted that for taking pictures of my flowers etc. Now all I have to do is figure out how to send pictures smaller as its set to send them too big. I will learn by the time I have flowers to take pics of I hope......... but the most frustrating thing is after I got the camera home and ripped all the plastic stuff off everything my sister Joan told me she deletes on the computer and I always did it on the camera... so I wore that part out. I didn't realize I could do it ( well I did know in the back of my mind). Its just that I never did it that way. So now I deleted all the pictures off my card and can use my camera again..... I now have 2 nice cameras. I suppose I could take the new one back but it is really nice so I will share my old one with my husband and son I guess.
Its not a nice day to take pictures today though as its snowing and so dreary again. The temp is on the way up though and maybe by this afternoon it will be rain or maybe even if we get lucky the sun will come out and clear this all up. I guess March was never my favorite month so I will live and bear it.... I like the end of April and early May the best.... flowers are blooming in my yard and we have less wind and more sun..... In the meantime I will learn to use my new camera. ( I hope)
That darn weatherman.... it is not supposed to snow anymore so he said.... He also said we were only getting a few fluries now. I should go and get him and bring him to my house. The picture I took does not tell the story. I say we will soon have a grand total of 50 but I bet we have more here in this suburb of Green Bay than they do wherever he is talking about. It is pretty though and they say snow has something in it better than fertilizer so our trees and grass should really be pretty next month sometime.

Happy St Patricks Day
It looks like its going to be a cloudy day here again today. We will see as its still very early to judge. I hope the sun shines a little though as it always cheers me up at this time of the year. It means more of those snow piles will melt too.
My camera is in need of repairs. I wonder if I will be able to find a place to do that today. Or I will have to get a new one because I don't like being with out a digital camera now that I have had one for about 3 years now. I think I wore a button out by using it so much. I can't delete the pictures anymore so when I finish this card it will be the end for me unless I get it fixed or get a new one. I have a regular camera and it is a very nice one too but its so convient to have a digital one now. I hope if I have to get a new one it will take as nice pictures too. I will have to learn all over how it works ~ always something to learn I guess and things cannot last forever but it seems to me 3 years is not very long for a camera to work. All I know is I cannot fix it myself so maybe Camera Corner can. I suppose they will have to send it in but I hope not because then there is shipping and handling added to the price and if they cannot fix it its a waste of money. Money that could be spent on a new camera.... Oh what to do.......

More snow melted today
I was at Michaels craft store today and saw these little hats and thought of my Chihuahuas and a picture for St Patricks day. Of coarse my sweeties are Mexican and not even a wee bit Irish but we had fun anyway.
My husband traded his truck in for a van today and its pretty nice. I can at least get in and out without a footstool so that is an improvement. Personally I like my little white car the best and wouldn't want to trade it in for anything.... Oh maybe if it gets really really old and a lot more miles but its already 7 years old and only 34,000 on it so I think it will last awhile longer. I hope. I don't like payments.
All the snow that we got this past week has melted now and we only have the piles where we shoveled. It may take until May for those to disappear ( Only kidding) I see were my daffodils are getting taller and my iris is starting to green up ~ Spring is coming but the weather man doesn't know it yet, ;)

Tomorrow Is the Ides of March
And its about time too isn't it? Especially for us here in the North. Seems the weather changes after the Ides. All I know is it sure is a dreary day today so if the sun shines tomorrow it will be welcome. The March winds are really blowing today too and we are still gettin flurries.... Everyone is sneezing today though so I would imagine its because the weather is going to change... Im optimistic anyway. ;) I keep thinking of you in the southern states planting your flowers and out in your gardens and I am sooooooo jealous. I know my day will get here and I guess its like this every spring but I am getting more impatient every year .... Old age you know. :)I ordered another plant on QVC today and if my ordering continues I won't have any room left to plant them. I already have a million plants in my yard ~ I guess they call it spring fever only spring isn't even here yet.
One of my favorite race drivers won today so that was fun and I didn't see any wrecks and that was nice too. I hate it when someone gets hurt but I like watching the race. Its nice to see baseball on tv again too. So you see everything is pointing toward spring and as soon as we get some sun and the wind dies down I will see some flowers. I'm getting excited.
The Spring birds are back in Wisconsin and showing themselves so as soon as the wind dies down and the sun comes out this will be the best place in the World to be. Tne naturalist Roy Lukes says the horned larks are here and that is a sure sign of Spring and my Mother always said when she saw and heard the Red Winged Black Bird that was a sure sign of spring and they have appeared at my feeder this week and I say its a bunch of Robins gathering and yesterday there were over 15 Robins in my front yard. Some eating berries from a tree and some getting worms out of the ground and I have a lot of finches and chick a dees and of coarse the sparrows and others. Oh Happy Days!

I got an award today
Isn't it surprising who they give awards too. So many more deserving but maybe they got theirs and didn't post the picture but I have no pride and Im posting it, LOL
Something nice to happen to me today anyway. Can you believe we are having ANOTHER SNOW STORM. When will it ever end I wonder. Its really really coming down and so thick you can hardly see accross the street. Its the pits.
I changed the bandages on my sons leg today and cleaned it up a little. It sure is a mean cut and its still bleeding after 2 days. Not a lot but he has to stay off it more than he does I guess. He is going to have to be off work all this week Im sure of that now. Looks like the Doctor at the Hospital did a nice job of stitching it up though. I hope it heals nice with out any complications. This has sure been some winter. Things will only get better when Spring comes Iam sure of it.

another one of those days
Another one of those frustrating days. I went to get some pills filled today and they said the insurance wouldn't pay for them unless I sent them in to be filled so I took care of that. I have enough for 2 more days but I bet they won't get here that fast even if the doctors office said to put a rush on it. I didn't want to pay $139 when I could get by with $5.... LOL would you? And while we were at the doctors office my son came home from work with a cut leg. His boss took him to an out of town Hospital to get it stitched up. He isn't in pain yet and I hope it doesn't start but he is supposed to keep his leg up and he is so stubborn. I bought a movie today so I will give it to him to watch so he at least is quiet for a little while. The freezing is still in the leg yet from it being stitched. He got hit in the leg with a board he put under the wheel of the car so it wouldn't move while taking a carpet out of the van. I guess the board came loose and hit him in the leg and knocked him to the ground. So his boss took him to the hospital and drove him home. He has a very nice boss.
So when it rains it pours around here I guess. Actually its snowing out today and windy. I hate March but by the end we should be getting spring like weather, at least I hope.

Windy day today
It was a warm, sunny, and windy day today. Good day for melting more snow and blowing away the water. Its a good thing.
I went to the doctor today and he thought I was doing well and should stay on my low fat diet and continue taking my pills for 3 months yet. But I had another blood test and my pancreatis seems to be all normal but I found out I have to have stronger throid pills and keep taking my potassium for 3 months ~ well thats ok as it could be worse and maybe in June I will be down to taking only the 2 pills I was taking before all this happened. So its pretty good news... except I ordered my throid pills and now they are on the way and I have to get a different prescription and have to pay twice. Don't you just hate when that happens. I just hate to spend money for something I or anyone else can't use but if thats the worse thing that happened to me today I guess I can get over it. :>)
I hope everyone had a nice day today ~ I can hardly wait to read all your journals. take care...................

Cleaning house
Its a good day for cleaning the house and getting together another bag of things for St Vincent DePaul. I have so much stuff it only takes a few minutes for that. I told Leo if we took a bag there every week we might be finished by the end of the year. It would be so nice to only have things around here that we use... I don't know why I have to save everything but I am learning. I guess when we were younger and had our big family we had to save everything but now there is no reason why someone else can't use what we are no longer using. I also cleaned the refrigerator out ~ isn't that a good feeling to always have that clean. We save too much stuff in there too. Anyway I'm finished for today and now I can read journals etc for awhile. Always a good part of my day. I have been sort of forgetting to write my own as I can't wait to see what everyone is doing. I hope having a nice day like Iam. Leo went to a fishing show today ~ he couldn't wait to get there. He will be gone quite awhile Im sure as he has to see everything and know just how it all works too. So I don't go with because it just takes way too long. He left at 9 and it didn't open until 10. He was excited and has been waiting for this a long time. I hope he finds something new and exciting. Something like how Iam at a garden center or show. Our Son Rick came over and showed me a pair of boots he got at Wal Mart today. He got a good buy and wanted to share it with me. He really really needed new boots and he got a nice pair too.I guess after that he was going to go to the fishing show and see if he could catch up with his father. I hope they have fun together.
So thats my life today in a nutshell.... take care.

A March Storm
This weather is probably causing a lot of home owners problems today. There is a big branch of our Pine tree in the back ( can hardly see it in one of the pictures) that is falling to the ground. It is probably broken and we will probably have to saw it off. Its always the wrong branch that happens to also, right? LOL We have a window well that keeps filling with water coming from the neighbors yard... each house is higher than the next and we don't have a drain on this side of the house. Leo just went to Fleet Farm to get a fitting for a pipe he is going to use to drain the water out of the well with a pump. He was using a garden hose but the water is coming too fast so he will get a wider pipe to see how that works. The water is coming into the basement now ....oh boy. Good thing our basement isn't finished with a family room or something.
Our son Tom came over this morning right from work and said most of the roads are pretty good... ours is the worse he said but there is a lot of slush to plow through and once it went right over his windshield. He came with his uniform on and his badge.... funny but its the first time I have seen him in this uniform and he must have been a fireman for Green Bay for about 20 years already...before that he was in the Navy and before that the Army..... he is a good son.... one of 5 we have.
This was in my daily calendar: "Every man stamps his value on himself.... man is made great or small by his own will."
J.C.F.von Schiller
I finished shoveling the patio and then did the driveway too as it is supposed to freeze tonight and I don't like a slippery driveway. Leo spent a good part of the day with the pumping out of the window well. Our sump pump is running downthe basement every minute or so yet. maybe it would be good if it did freeze

Martha Stewart
I was watching Martha's tv show this morning and it got me hoping she is found innocent of her charges. I like the information and perfection she offers us all. There was a segment today about the beautiful Magnolias in New York and the transplanting of perennials in the spring and she was also planting some lilies that can still be planted this spring and will still bloom this summer. she said if there is any growth on the bulbs you should make sure you don't break that off as that is where the blossom is going to form and if you break it you won't get flowers this year. She also made a delicious cobb salad. I will be hoping and praying that she is innocent as I am very selfish and want her doing her good things awhile longer. ( anyway I don't think she did anything that the rest of us wouldn't have done) Good Luck to Martha. ;)
So after the show I went to K Mart and got a package of Nigella seeds she was talking about today too. I sure hope they grow for me. They are also called Love-in-a-Mist... Her seed packets are so informative too.
Leo just came home from fishing and he got one Walleye.... I don't remember if I told you all the old retired fishermen go to the same spot and have a contest every year. Leo is in 3rd place now and another guy got 2 and Al got 6 so you know if it doesn't storm tomorrow where Leo will be. He goes fishing for walleye and I go fishing for gardening things. I got a wreath for the door today too and a few other things. I'm starting to feel much better
I guess I didn't get my wish. I hope her sentence is short . Maybe she can keep her business going if its a short sentence. I hope its not too terrible for her and some good comes of it all.

Spring is around the corner
I do still have my head cold though and am coughing up a storm so its a good thing the ground isn't ready for me to play in yet. Probably another 2 to 4 weeks and I can start cleaning up ( I hope)
